rear brakes on 2011 shelby gt-500

My dealer finally got the answer.
If your car has a Shelby dash plaque then it was built at Shelby, otherwise it came from Ford. Ford used single piston calipers in the rear, Shelby stopped using two piston calipers two years ago. So, whatever you have, one or two piston, that's what your're stuck with.

 

My opinion is that’s BS, your dealer do not want to fix this issue.

That is not necessary true, If you bought a 2007-2011 Shelby GT500 that car was build and distributed by Ford Motor Company. If you order a Super Snake then that was built by Ford but modified by Shelby American (http://www.shelbyamerican.com/). The plaque can be original (because you order a Super Snake) but you can also order the plaque for your Shelby and that does not mean that your car was built at Shelby.

That’s true for the ford Mustang V6 and GT but not for the GT500. If your car was modified in Shelby American you do not have to worry about 2 piston calipers because Shelby America use 6 piston calipers (front and rear) for their modifications if brake upgrade is included if not you get what Ford promise you.
In this case if you read the brochure created and distributed by FORD said in the STANDAR FEATURES for the GT500 “Includes selected GT features PLUS:” …”11.8-in vented rear rotors with 2 piston calipers.

 

There's only three ways to go forward:

1) Hope that your dealer will be Mr Fantastic and personally fix the problem that Ford Corporate created - unlikely
2) File a class action suit to have all GT500s fixed according to the advertised specs
3) Shrug your shoulders - c'est la vie.

I say be happy with what you have... it was a mistake in the liturature.
That's my take on this! Don't think it will be resolved unless Shelby loggs's in.

 

I've had my GT500 for a little over a month now. I have the single-piston rear brake calipers too. Any resolution for anyone yet?

I brought my car to my local dealership, and the service manager says there is no mistake, that's what the car was manufactured with.

I spoke to a rep at the SVT Info Center (he says they're "Ford Racing Info Center" now); he says there is no performance impact with the single-piston calipers being on the car.

I spent nearly 2-hours on the phone with the Customer Relationship Center, after arguing that "11.8" Rotors and two-piston calipers" -- "Is not an option on this car" -- "no it's not standard equipment" -- I'm agruing, "I agree it's not an option; yes it is standard equipment" -- I'm somewhat convinced I'm stuck!!!

Should we all contact, Shelby American with our issue, and Ford too? Carroll Shelby allowed his name on this car; maybe He or his company can influence Ford.
