Could someone please verify how many Blue 1965 Shelby GT-350’s were made. Wikipedia stated “All but one 1965 G.T. 350s were painted Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue rocker stripes. The one exception was blue with white stripes.” According to the Shelby Registry # 5 S 379 was sold new with blue with white stripes through the dealer in Denver, Colorado. Is this the only one or are they’re two blue 65 GT 350’s? Thanks
Mark Donohue drove one in a race paint opposite of the factory team colors to protest the he wasn't factory backed.
There were NO blue/white striped '65 Shelby GT350's. ALL were white with black interiors. See SAAC Shelby Registery, 1965-1966-1967. In the case of 5S379, it was delivered to the original owner, white with blue LeMans stripes. Later, he painted it blue/white stripes and then later still, he repainted it back to the original white/blue stripes. Later on, a subsequent owner, restored it and repainted it blue/white stripes.
5R105, driven by Mark Donohue, was briefly painted, blue/white stripes, as a protest, for not being selected as a Shelby Team driver. It was returned to its original, white/blue stripe configuration shortly thereafter. Prompted, by a phone call, from a not too pleased, Mr. Shelby.
I was just reading the 2011 registry section for the 65's last night. True, every 65 Mustang delivered to Shelby for conversion was white. Individuals have chosen to paint them other colors. There was even a red one, an R model in Canada. Some privateer drag cars painted other colors.
ALL ( 252 ) of the '65 "Carryover" cars were white as well. That is, recieved at Shelby American in white. Only 6S048 and 6S051 left Shelby American, another color, than white. 6S048 being the Hertz prototype, was painted black/gold stripes for presentation to Hertz Corporation. 6S051 being the Paxton Supercharged prototype, was painted green and had white side stripes with "GT350S" designation.
isn't it amazing how much knowledge is available in the just released 1965-66-67 Shelby World Registry. It is worth every penny.

All the ones that care enough to be knowledgeable about the subject do. It sure makes it nice to have 99% of all the FAQ in one book. Bob
