Correct Oil caps for '67 GT500

    I've had what I'm sure are incorrect breather caps on my car for ever. They are simply the off the shelf Motorcraft from 20 years ago. Too big in diameter and wrong shape according to some.

    Please describe the features of the original style caps. Pictures or links would be great. Secondly, who if anyone sells a reproduction close to the originals?

    It would be helpful to zero in on this if you could tell us the car number, the build date if you know it, and, do you know if the car was originally delivered new in California

    The most likely non-CA FE oil cap has, finally, been reproduced. Not marked "Motorcraft", of course.

    Car is #0758. Non CA. I think it has a March build date without checking.

    Is the repro shown available as a push-on for the manifold as well as a twist on for the valve cover?

    The twist on repro cap pictured in the other post with the FOMOCO in block letters in a rectangle would be appropriate for the time frame a 67 Shelby like yours was built. The later cars caps could have "Autolite" stamp. Some of the cars even came with ether variety of black painted cap instead of chrome. The oil filler cap was a smaller diameter push on cap and it also came in black or chrome. There is also a nice repro of that one too. The small oil filler cap could have "FOMOCO" in a oval which would be appropriate for your car or "Autolite" on later cars . Ether size cap was most prevalent in chrome .I have also seen one style cap black and the other style chrome on the same car. I hope this helps. Bob

    Now I'll see if I can locate a dealer which stocks them.
