I know, I know. This is for Shelby's, but I don't belong to a mustang forum. I know somebody can help. My son did his first oil change yesterday on his 2010 mustang. It was a rental car, now it's his baby. I showed him what to do, but he drained the trans fluid instead of the oil. I managed to pump trans fluid back into the smaller hole (my first time for this). He told me the plug he removed had a tall threaded tube on it. Do I understand that this is an overflow to set the level of the fluid? Do you pump in fluid, remove the hose, and let it drain to achieve the correct level? Thanks, Brian

That is mostly correct. You put just enough fluid in to achieve a thin stream or a rapid drip out the pipe. If it runs out as a heavy stream, the trans is overfilled. If it only drips out slowly or nothing drips out at all, the fluid level is too low.
The engine/trans should be warm, not hot with the engine running in park while checking the fluid level.

Thanks for the post. That's what I thought. We are going to raise the car this Saturday and drain some fluid. I pumped in about 5 quarts and when I pulled the hose the stream was pretty good. Thanks again.
