I own #397. I would describe the top as fabric. It has a bit of a nap / texture to it. Hope this helps .... Rick
Thanks Rick! hey another question...........do you have a spare tire in your GT-H? I wanna get one so I am not left to tow my #108. If so, is it a full or mini spare? What works? Thanks
Hello Awesome#108, You are welcome. A detailing tip on the top. Get one of those yellow adhesive tape tear off lint removers / rollers. You will find them in the housewares department of any big box store. My top attracts all kinds of flying seeds (milk weed, dandelion .... the white floating seeds) and road dander. Rolling the lint remover over a dry top removes the seeds and dander. It also raises the nap on the top keeping that new look. Regarding the spare .... I am not certain what was with #397 when new. When I purchased it I was the first owner after Hertz. The spare, jack, top cover, floor mats, glovebox manual were all missing. A trip to a large local auto recycler (spare, jack) and eBay (OEM top cover, OEM floor mats, manuals) yielded everything missing. I bought a Ford "temporary spare" from the recycler. It stows under the press board sheet in the trunk. I hope I never need to use it .... but having it does give a certain level of piece of mind. Hope this helps. Rick
Thanks again Rick. can you clarify.....did you get a mini spare? If so...did you have to get a special one which will have enough clearance behind it for the 14" oversized brakes on the front? How does it fit in the trunk with the air compressor Shelby put in in the well? Also......since I find these forums very helpful.....I hope you don't mind another question. Have you ever had any problems with your convert frame? My passenger side raises slower than driver side. A vert roof specialist told me it's a common problem with mid 2000"s Mustangs. He recommends welding on a supporting metal piece to strengthen frame parts which are bending and may snap off soon. See .pdf doc I have attached of the issue as it was a recall a while back. Thanks for your input.
The spare I purchased came from a Mustang GT. It's size is "T-155-70-R17". I have not checked the clearance to the front brakes. That is something I am going to have to do now. Regarding the top issue. I have had no issues. Reinforcing the weak parts sounds like a viable solution. I might suggest posting over on Team Shelby. There are more Shelby GT / GT-H owners that frequent that site. You may find some experienced people that have been through this topic. Rick
