It is my understanding that the final design will debut at the Detroit Auto show January 2006. It's my understanding if you want scoops it's on your own. I just hope they get rid of the three tail lights, that the Mustang has and install the Cougar type that the GT500's had. I guess it's wait and see
Re: 2007 GT500 Me too! I'd also like to see "Powered By Shelby or Cobra or even Ford" on the valve covers. "Powered By SVT" just looks odd. Another small change I'd like is for Ford to replace the old antenna with one of those new, low profile, color matched antennas (with XM Satellite Radio). OK, one more small change; how about some color matched rearview mirrors? What do you guys think about the idea of a removable hardtop for this car? A hardtop and a convertible in one, now that makes me drool. I love the look of the fastback and am not so fond of the soft-top look. With a removable hardtop, I’d have it all!
Re: 2007 GT500 You'll been missing the whole picture and only thinking 450hp. What this car really needs is a special VIN tag with unique serial numbers. Much like the Shelby tags on our treasures. The SVT can put their name on various items on the car but it becomes a Shelby when this unique tag is bonded to the car. Just demand it. It will be necessary in the future. TSR p.s.: if it don't happen, I'll start the business to produce the special tag....
Re: 2007 GT500 Put me first in line for a special tag . I see on the saac web site that they will be on the registry so maybe there will be a tag.
Re: 2007 GT500 If we could only communicate these ideas to Ford. John Coletti, who used to head the SVT, would make a point a couple times a year to stop by on one of our cruise nights to talk to all the Cobra owners for ideas-the likes and deslikes. That's what we need to keep the Shelby heritage a live. We don't need another GTO
Re: 2007 GT500 I'll pass these thoughts along to Carroll. I can't say he will talk to Ford about it but at least he will know what some of you guys are thinking. Randall
Re: 2007 GT500 I think everyone here is excited about the concept of the new GT500. The chief concern is that it look more like a "Shelby" instead of another SVT project. Thank You for relaying our thoughts to Carroll. I have a feeling he will let Ford know what the Shelby enthusiasts think of the prototype car. robin
Re: 2007 GT500 John Clor writes articles for Mustang Enthusiast Magazine and also handles the content for the Ford SVT web site along with some other marketing communication according to his short bio. He can be reached at MEeditor@amosautomotive.com or you can call SVT during business hours at 800-FORD-SVT. Apparently if you call this number you actually get to speak with someone at SVT and not an outsourced call center!
Re: 2007 GT500 This may be an ignorant question, but what is your relationship to the man himself, Carroll Shelby?
Re: 2007 GT500 Does SVT ever read these threads to see what those of us that have interest in the car have to say , more so" WANT IN THE CAR?"
