My cousin Raym... ever since he was a little kid has wanted a Shelby. For the past 20 years he has said he is GONNA get a brand spankin new one! Last month he made good on his claim and bought a brand new 2011 GT500, white with red stripes, glass roof, SVT suspension option, Navi, and idunno what else. He picked it out online, white with red stripes. With cash and dad he went to the local Ford store and they had two new GT500's, a 2012 black/red and a 2011 white with red with the SVT suspension and glass roof just the way he wanted it. His dad was there to get the Ford Z-Plan. Raym is 54, I am 55 yrs old. We grew up like brothers and have always been fully vested, fully trusted close relatives. We're not from rich families or even comfortable backgrounds. "Kids, come in now its dinner time" was something other kids heard. We didn't have a 'dinner time'. Eventualy, we all got jobs and although of hard labor type it was the best thing that ever happened to us and we hung on to them with tooth and nail. Raym, been on his job for 18 years, before that a tour in the U.S. Navy. I've been at my job a factory grunt for 27 yrs. Raym & I share a big house, actualy its Raym's house and has a 2.5 car garage that is full of toys like a crotch rocket, a Harley, dirt bike, mini-bike, pinball machine, freezer full of meat & goodies. I moved in with Raym to rent out my house since the neighborhood has gotten too bad to live in. Its kind of amazing to see the new Shelby in the garage. Its truely an amazing car. From 1993 to 1998 I built up a 1986 GT convertible. From a bare roller block I built a Vortech charged 556HP/576 lbs torque 347 stroker backed by a Tremec 5-speed & 3.55 gears. When in boost it was a handful. Idle was rumpedy-rump-prump. Raym's 550HP Shelby is smooth, quiet and a dream to cruise around in. Its amazing at the power they can make and still maintain great drivabilty. We'v had the Shelby for only a month and it has under 200 miles. Later I'm gonna ask some tech questions but for now, Nice to meet you all VonBarky
Congratulation, enjoy the car and please now that you wait so long to have it drive it, do not storage the car like lot of people, just drive it and enjoy it. I get my 2011 on December of 2010 and I'm also not rich, I have to do a lot of sacrifices to have it but finally is here.
He must have ESPn to see that far in the future to see the Gt500 available again... Congrats...and yeah get out and drive it. Im afraid that people who are buying the new generation Shelbys as an investment (monetarily) are gonna be disapointed. Buy them to invest in FUN.
Great story, I am really happy for you and for the amazing color combination. Post some pics when possible. Best of luck and enjoy the new SHELBY. Safe ride, braztang
