I need new secondary diaphragms, and maybe a whole rebuild kit for my carbs. Does anyone know what base model they are? 4150? 4160? My piston rod lengths are different in each carb's diaphragm which makes me think they may not have the right diaphragms to start. It's surprisingly difficult to cross reference these carbs. Thanks
What are the list numbers? You are right about the fact that there is a difference in parts for these carbs. Secondary diaphragms and needle and seat assemblies do not interchange with other carbs of a similar series. (They LOOK like the list 1850 and a lot of these parts interchange, but not all of them and you can get your mammary gland in a wringer by assuming that they are "all the same." Don't ask me how I know this!) Here is one of the best sources for parts: http://www.carlsfordparts.com/main.html?carbs.html~content Good luck Bill
List 2804 and 2805 Carl's Ford Parts said they were basically 4150s and most parts should fit, but I want to be sure. The 4150 balloon diagram in the 1967 service manual shows a 4150 but it looks different.
For some reason the dual quad carbs have a number of unique parts. I did a pair of carbs for a friends 427 Galaxy years ago. The supposed "mostly the same 4150 parts” didn't include the needle and seats or the secondary diaphragms which created a lot of problems. I have an old Holley illustrated guide from the 1970's, I will look up the parts tonight. Another source is the Holley custom shop. Phone number: 270 782-2900.
Holley got back to m ewith this info: secondary diaphragms are 135-4 and rebuild kit is 3-119. I guess they would know.
Check the bottom of the needle and seat assembly where the needle contacts the float to make sure they are the same diameter as the ones in the carbs now. I don't know about your carbs, but the ones I did used needles that had a larger diameter contact area. Good luck
