What's the deal with the Shelby registry? Is anyone updating it anymore. I would be interested in taking it over or how would that work?
Re: Shelby registry I believe the Registry is very much alive and kicking and been handled by capable hands. Where are you getting that it is not from? Search the SAAC site for answers.
Re: Shelby registry If you are talking about Bill Yohman's site, I know he is reluctant to let any one else update the site. Some of the data, like owners contact information, should be guarded closely. You may want to check out the thread on TurboDodge.com with input on the subject from Bill himself. Shelby Registry
Re: Shelby registry Juan...this site has a broader focus... these guys are not talking about the SAAC Registry for Cobras and GTxxx... I believe they are talking about the Mopar generation of cars.
Re: Shelby registry I understand Bill Yohman is busy. I am busy I also am in the air force. But, daggone it, the Ford guys can do it why can't we? I just want an updated registry. What can we do to help? Can someone point this post out to him? No offence to the Ford guys!
Re: Shelby registry None taken. ..but you must realize the head start we have...and the infrastucture that helps maintain the Registry. The national club (SAAC - Shelby American Automobile Club) has been active for nearly 30 years. The first registry of Cobras was published in the early 70's. SAAC has thousands of members, paying hefty annual dues. There are 10 members with responsibilty for the Registry, each having a specific model/model year assigned to them. The data IS NOT available online; it is only accessible thru a published book..last printed in 1997, and for sale at ~$129. A new edition has been in the works for several years and is due out next summer.. and is available on a pre-pub basis at $175, or $285 for a special collector's edition. But, you have to start somewhere... Is there a national org for your marque? Get one one or two guys to publish and sell a pamphlet-style registry with whatever info you can gather in a set-time-period....that will start the ball rolling... ..that's how SAAC started it all 30 years ago.
Re: Shelby registry SDAC is the national club for the Shelby-Dodge products, and it would make sense that the registry fall into the possesion of SDAC. For many years www.shelbyregistry.com was the most up to date listing of what shelby dodge cars were still out there, but I know it has been over a year since it was updated. Maybe Barry (SDAC), and Bill who owns the site can work something out.
Re: Shelby registry While I have never talked to Bill about SDAC taking over the registry, I have given it thought. And it would make sense if the national Shelby Dodge club was the one that tracked the vehicles and provided the registry as a service to owners and members alike.
Re: Shelby registry Barry, I like the idea and am more than willing to assist with putting it togethere if you and Bill are able to work something out.
Re: Shelby registry First let me say that Barry and I are currently having a private discussion about the Registry. Let me provide a bit of background about how we have gotten to where we are. The Registry started as a pet project due to lack of other resources. It was initially hosted on my personal web site starting back in '95. In late '98, it had grown enough that I decided to registry a domain and pay for that hosting. Around '01, the Registry grew so large that I could no longer maintain it by hand. I attempt to create an off-line data-base but I didn't have the required expertise. I currently have over 1,100 new registrations and updates in the queue that I haven't been able to process with an average of two changes per week adding to that total. I've solicted help and received a number of offers over the years. Of course not a single one panned out. Dennis Fuller and I were just about finished with a program when a fatal laptop error caused the loss of all source code. After years of failed attempts from people eager to make things happen, the Registry has fallen into a state of dis-repair. No one is more disappointed than I but I've never had the money available to have someone create a program/database and NONE of the people who've complained over the years (I'm not intending to suggest it's due to anyone in this thread) have contributed anything. No money, no programming, NADA! It's kind of strange timing but I'm currently writing a statement of work for a program that I'm doing to bid for a professional programmer to create. I have budgeted money out of my own pocket (this doesn't count the thousands of dollars I've already spent with almost NO donations). Hopefully this will give folks a bit of perspective on what has happened and what is happening. Because I don't know how this next project is going to work, I have not told anyone else about it and I would like it to remain low key in case it doesn't work out. If you are interested in helping, click the PayPal link at http://www.ShelbyRegistry.com/pages/donate.html Cheers.
I was planning on starting one. I was thinking something like this. http://www.3.8mustang.com/members/ I am waiting for a reply from the site owner now to see if I can use his code. -Kevin

Re: Shelby registry Hey there, somewhat new to the forum. This post was 18 months ago, has much changed with the status of the registry? Is any oneline version in the works?
