It has been a while but I am finally back to working on the car and of course I have more questions. I have a late car that came with a bunch of early parts. It came with a flat taillight panel which I realized today doesn't fit on later cars. The two inner mounting studs line right up with the edge of the taillight boxes. Did the early cars use shorter taillight boxes? Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket taillight panels? Are there any out there that actually fit? Now to the nose. It is a 2 piece slanted grill. My question is that I just noticed that there are 4 holes in the grill opening about an inch forward if the grill where the nose bolts to the brace. I have done some looking and have found pictures of slant grills with and without these bolts. Does anyone know what range of cars had these mounting bolts? Also, I can't tell from any of the pictures which style bolt should be used. Can someone with an early car give me a rough idea what type of bolt I should use there? Thanks
One other question. Does anyone know if I will run into issues using the early nose on the late car? From what I can tell, There doesn't seem to be much difference is the way the mount other than the nose brace and high beam bracket being one piece instead of 2.
For starters, hold the phone...... How about posting your Shelby's last 4 digits of the vin number. Heres what we need to figure out. Using the number, we can figure out when your car was built and when it was finished at Shelby American. Remember, these 67's WERE NOT built in numerical sequence. Many were, but not all. So, maybe your car was built early, and wasn;t Shelby vinned for who knows what reason. So, post the number and we'll go from there.
It is a late car, 2510. It was wrecked in the 70's and everything that came with it was from another car, or maybe 2.
I would rethink what you are planning on doing with the early parts on your late car . You are being penny wise and dollar foolish . First off it will be harder to cobble (meant to sound bad) together the car with some early and some late parts. I am just being your conscience here ,surly you know you have a rare car and a valuable asset someday in the future when you or your family decide to pass it on you will regret the shortcut. By putting these incorrect parts on the car now the car it will negatively effect the value and desirability of the car. I am not a good typist and the explanation is too long but if you want to call me I will spend some time explaining how you can do the job right and have it look correct with out breaking the bank.
