I have what I believe is a 428cj block. It had the correct rods and crank for a CJ. It did have solid lifters but I'm quite sure that was done later since it has all 3 oil galley plugs in the back. From what I have read, there was not a part number on these later blocks like the earlier ones had. Is that correct?
What really had me confused is the date code. I have attached a couple pictures. I can't make out the year. I looks like a P or an R which doesn't make sense either way. There are also a couple numbers on the side of the block which I have in the last picture but I don't believe that they are important.

    Thanks

1969 and 1970 blocks have two dots cast under the first number. Most likely this is "9L3" or a November 3, 1969 cast block (1970 model year). If it is for a CJ car, you have a pretty small window of cars it could fit into.
