I watched this auction at the beginning and found it to be unreal...then I watched the ending to find it crazy!!!! If you read the ad the missing screw has a new meaning!!! after all these years!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-1965-Shelby-GT350-Mustang-horn-switch-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27bc04d739QQitemZ170658158393QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Crazy, but I am not surprised. If that is the finishing part needed by at least 2 people weird things can happen in an auction situation.
Here's another one. The connectors on the back are horizontal instead of vertical. Looks good though. If this one ends anywhere near the last one at $2375.00, I'll go have some made and start a new business. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 cheers, ~Earl J
They were available once upon a time. But they haven't had them in over 10-15 years. The one in the above auction was at $300.00 so far. Not bad for a JC Whitney part if that is where it's from. ~E
Funny thing, if you did reproduce the switch, after selling about a dozen, you'd have used up the demand. This switch sells for $6 These were reproduced a few years ago because unbroken originals we rare. After a year, it was a real slow seller.
Hello 2+2GT, I was "just say'in" (I was being sarcastic about reproducing them based on the one Curt Vogt sold for $2370.00 a month or so ago). The one in Fresno has the correct lever handle. It ended up selling for $300.00. Not bad for a $2.00 part The two images you posted above are incorrect looking for a 65 GT350. Cheers, ~Earl J
Of course. The first was an example of what it should cost. The second was a cautionary note. It's an excellent reproduction, of a much more widely needed part, and yet is a slow seller.
If anyone is interested, I have one that is so close that it would be very hard to tell unless put up next to an original. From what I can tell it is from the same manufacturer, but appeared on a unknown (at this time) British car. Pix available. Mike Shelby6t5@aol.com
As 67GT500#2100 pointed out; when 2 individuals are after the same part, things can get rather wild. So, it isn't suprising to see almost unobtainable parts, go for big buck$. Just wait. With the ever dwindling supply of NOS and Shelby unique ( can I use that word? ) parts available, prices are on an steep, upward spiral. If you know you are going to need certain parts for your Shelby, you better stock up now, as they will be more expensive later, IF, they are available. AS for the '65 horn switch; a forum member, hand produces a beautiful switch, that is so close to the original, its amazing. I've had one of these switches in my Shelby for several years now. During this time, a number of Shelby owners, have ridden in my car and have yet to notice its not the original switch. The best part; is that it utilizes an aircraft switch that will probably out live the Shelby, as opposed to the cheap, plastic, original switch.
I think that's a post for me, not sure what to do with it, its so close, but I would not call it original or anything like that. I would say the finish on the last ebay one was off a little, but once in a car it would be hard to tell. M.
That was for shlby66, who mentioned had had one "…a forum member, hand produces a beautiful switch, that is so close to the original, its amazing." Owners who need a switch (and don't have two grand for a switch) and people who build replicas would go for such an item. Maybe not "buy a new house" money, but maybe "keep you in beer" money.
