1967 GT 500 Owner #2951

    Hi. I have owned my 1967 about 12 years and in that time I have spent numerous hours driving, cleaning and fixing the car of my dreams as a boy.

    Recently, on Fathers Day none-the-less, my Shelby finally gave out. Tearing down the engine it was revealed that I had a cracked block at the number 4 cylinder. There were three cracks, two of them went the length of the cylinder wall.

    Now I am at a crossroads, is there anyone out there that can restore my 428 with this type of damage or are there reputable resources to aquire another block that is within the time period my car was built. It is #2951 and was built off a mustang from San Jose # 7R02Qxxxxx. What timeframe should I be looking for,

    I know, great initial post, but I am an old guy new to the internet and forums.

    A competant machine shop should be able to install a sleeve. Find a shop that will not bore the cylinder to the bottom of the cylinder. A small ridge at the bottom keeps the sleeve from dropping down, the cylinder heads keep it from moving upward.

    You can also edit your post to remove the Ford serial number. The Shelby number will aid the knowledgeable people. The Ford number will aid the scammers

    Thanks for the advice. I think two of the cracks go up to the deck and had water in cylinder.
    Is there a production timeframe I should stay within when shopping for a new block? Assuming I need one.
