So I just recently talked with another GT500 fanatic and was told that their were 2 air cleaners for the 1969 GT500. He said that after April 15th ish, the air cleaners had an extra breather hose from the air cleaner to either the bottom of the carb or into the intake.

Does anyone know if this is true and if so where on the air cleaner would the breather out be located? My GT500 is a Jan 31 so it would have the same air cleaner as the 68 I believe, but I would hate to finally get one and find out I have the wrong one. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It can be a trick question because it is actually the same air cleaner but after approx Feb-March of 69 (date has been narrowed down more from previous April thought date)- a small valve with a approx 1/8 nipple was added to the existing CJ ram air cleaner . A hole was drilled and the nipple fitting added with a metal press fit clip holding it in place. The special orange colored hose ran down to a tee in the asbestos covered choke tube line. Your Jan 69 built car would have the same air cleaner but most likly without the added nipple fitting. I hope this helps. Bob
