Anyone have an opinion as to who makes the most accurate comfort weave seat upholstery? Thanks, Steve
There is no correct reproduction comfortweave. That leaves you with two options, try to save or repair the originals. Option 2 is to buy some NOS comfotweave from SMS auto fabrics and have it sewn into the correct seat covers. Tell us what is wrong with your seats
My back seat has what appears to be the original seat covering but the 2 front seats have the regular vinyl covers.
So, no repairs.... The NOS material option is going to be somewhat expensive. I would guess $400 for material and about the same to have the covers sewn. TMI will sew the covers for you, if you decide to go that way
Ah? Got me...they make the reproduction seat covers, so they have the patterns and skills. I have done this and they look very nice. If your going to do this email me and I will give you some contacts www.tmiproducts.com
Pete, Since this is a driver I think I'll focus my budget on other items like suspension and steering. I will however keep this information in my notes for future use. Thanks again, Steve
On a somewhat related topic:Anyone know the best "preservant"(ie spray protectant or whatever }to keep the original comfortweave(for a 67)supple???I had my drivers seat reupholstered with repro stuff but still have the original insert stored in my garage and dont want it to deteriorate ....Any help appreciated...BtW..you are absolutely right about the Ford licensed "ford original" repo stuff...it is NOT woven like the original...However it does look a lot better than most of the complete(non custom )repro covers..For whatever reason most of those look too grey in my opinion.......my 2 cents.Trent
If I do decide to get the original material and have the seat covers made. How much material do I need per front bucket seat? Steve
Thanks Pete I've been researching for the last hour or so and I've just come across this post on another forum. http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=69247 It show's another supplier for the original comfort weave material besides SMS Auto Fabrics. Just in case I've found something that you didn't know (highly unlikely) Steve
The regular TMI 'comfortweave' is an embossed pattern simulating the look of the woven vinyl. I doesn't breathe, of course, but at a glance it doesn't look half bad.
