What are a few zero's anyway. The SAAC 68 Shelby registrar dug out the Ford official warranty records stored on micro fish film and interestingly the info indicates #3866 KR fastback sold recently at a estate auction in Indiana surprisingly indicates that the Shelby has quite a few more miles then previously thought. There were a number of warranty claims each with it's own mileage record. The last one that was done under warranty had to be done by the 12,000 mile mark if it was to be covered. If for some reason a part was not available or other dealer authorized extenuating circumstances a car could be driven passed that mileage and still be covered under warranty -The entry into Fords warranty record reads--**On 1-29-69 Ruth Hughbanks had warranty service at dealership for l/door arm rest at a cost of $12.89 with 15,441 miles (but was requested before 12,000 miles). ** Wow all that hype and let us not forget threats made to forum members for disputing some of the claims the truth starts to come out. I would have to concede some of the things I saw indicate the car may not have 109,000 miles circumstantial evidence points to but the facts show it doesn't have 9,000 miles on it ether. We my never know for sure how many miles are on it but at the very least we know it is isn't the 9,000 miles hyped before ,during ,and after the auction. Bob
The auction company wouldnt say something that wasn't true ? http://saacforum.com/index.php?topic=15012.msg123080;topicseen#msg123080 I would say it's in line now.
Must have been a lot of tire spin on the drag strip. See, the car didn't really travel 109,000 miles with all that time on the drag strip so maybe they thought it would be best to represent it as 9000 miles.
Looks like Dave (perhaps Cpt Dave) just made a post quoting the service history. Someone is going to have egg on their face
Earl Cornwell, owner of the auction house has been notified of the Ford warranty records and faxed a copy. I highly suggested he pass them to new owner immediately as the inormation is now permanantly attached to car and will surface sooner or later. The side of truth is in his best interest otherwise you just become another Joe Pa.
Gauranteed....by the auction house. So, what will that mean? Money back? yeah, after the lawyers get their split.
There may be just a little misunderstanding in the mileage..... there was only documented 9000 miles on the original wood rimmed grant steering wheel.... not the car.... Who cares about the cars mileage anyway??? Grant wheels are getting very difficult to find in barns in any condition!!!!
Bob speaks only the facts. Well done. There's no disputing the truth in regards to this car and Bob calls it as he sees it. I on the other hand would shout out "burn the witch"!!!!!! I of course am referring to Shane...... backwoods....... or whatever he calls himself now. QSS Long live the Shelby Police.
