    Jon,
I noticed you're back on the list! :)

Slinging stones back and forth is pretty lame.
You have had problems with Stephen for some time now and it seems like you
enjoy this forum to express it.

I personally owns Shelby's and I enjoy them as well.
Stephen has Carroll's '69 GT500 that was in Mustang Monthly as the "Dream
Machine". I know he loves these cars and knows quite a bit about them. To
ask If he can burn rubber by popping a clutch is quite funny. What does that
have to do with anything? I like concourse cars and have a real vintage
racer '66 but...No I do not have a daily driver Shelby. So does that make me
any less a "Shelby Enthusiast" NO !!
Jon, I enjoy your posts more when they are constructive rather than
    distracting.
There are many on this list because we have a love of the Shelby Cars.

    Bottom Line:

If you love the cars because....
    1) They are cool
    2) Carroll Shelby is my hero.
    3) They give me Goosebumps when they drive by.
    4) I get more Goosebumps EVEN more when driving one.
    5) I see a Shelby at an event I have never seen
    6) I see a Shelby at an auction.
    7) I restored one.
    8) I like old classic cars.
    9) I like cars that appreciate in value.
    10) I have a car worth a small house
    11) I can sell one to pay for my kids college education.
    12) I can retire with extra cash someday.
    13) I like cars with some interesting histories.
    14) My car is awesome and I only paid 25% of what it is worth now.
    15) My son told me to never sell my "Hertz" car. (Guess He likes the car
    too)
    16) Shelby's blow away vipers on the Virginia City Hillclimb (NV)..Only the
    500K Ferrari's can beat them...And not by much! :)
    17) Driving your Shelby at a road course. THIS IS AWESOME!!
    18) Love the sounds of a healthy Shelby driving by.
    19) Eat & drink Shelby information, pictures and history. MMMMM good!
    20) Taking some Boy Scouts for cruises in the Shelby's at Hot August Nights.
( THEY LOVED IT...They said..Those are the COOLEST cars ever! )
...they might be Shelby owners someday. :)

OK..You guys can add onto the list If you like.

    As for Jon & Stephen..

Jon, I am sure you have a few of these reasons and others of WHY you love
    Shelby's.

Stephen, loves them for some of these reasons AND makes a living on it too.

    YOU BOTH LOVE SHELBY'S !

As you can see I do as well. Regardless of even owing a Shelby, I will
    always love these great cars!

Lets just get along. We all need to learn to disagree agreeably.

    Thanks, Jim Elsmore

Re: I love Shelby's because (NOT)

What the hecks wrong with not getting along? A whole lot of invention (and entertainment) has come about for just that reason. There would be no Shelbys if Carroll had just gotten along with Enzo. No Apple computer if Wozniak had gotten along with IBM. Personlly, I find it hard to get along with folks who say we deserve what we got on 9/11. And on and on throught time and history. We learn a lot from a good disagreement. Rodney King was full of crap, of course we can't all just get along.

"Slinging stones" makes for pretty great entertainment, besides. So, what's "Lame" to one may be good content to another. I'm sure some folks think my Vmax is lame (a lot of Harley riders), but try to keep up with it without a Hayabusa. Sorry, that's off topic...

People disagree. If we all tire of it, we can push delete, or ask them to take it offline. I personally found it interesting to see both points of view. People without passion are boring. I recall a similar instance with a couple of listmembers and a rusty car some time back. Seems one of them went undercover for quite a while after that...

Hey Stephen, I refuse to hug you to keep you on the list. Stay if you enjoy it, I enjoy your postings, but no hugs, ok?

Now back to cutting that stupid cage out of the 67 GT500 (going back to stock, what a pain in the buttocks).

Pardon my vocabulary, I swear when I'm passionate about stuff (and when I'm covered with metal dust). No word police, please. The internet is really about freedom.

    All the best,

    Dan:

Now that sounds more realistic. Let me share with you and everyone why this price stuff really bugs me.

Recently, its very tough for me to show my enthusiasm to a crowd of none Shelby people. I mean, I can't even take my 67-500 out to local shows because the first thing they ask is how much and then go
into investment talk and not once do I hear anything about performance, traction, acceleration etc... Its very sad for me and really I try to make the best of it for everyone.

I even used the car as a push for some young kids who are in trouble. Example, there is a kid two blocks from me. He seems to be a trouble maker at school and has been caught with drugs. His step
father is always angry at him and his mother dont get too involved because the father is too dominating over the situation. To make the long story short, I let him help me with my Shelbys and work on
the engine and stuff. He found passion in the Shelbys and has made it his dream car. BEcause its a "dream", he is working hard for something whereas before he didn't care or didn't even think about
where his life was going. His grades improved and he dropped all his drug friends. He calls me once a week to ask me questions about what he needs to do to get a Shelby for project and build one. I
never thought that a "dream" car could make/change someone's life but because of that, Im very prone to be protective/respectful of those who desire one but just can't afford it or find it. Sometimes
Dreams give people hope and that is the BEST thing I have learned about this hobby.

So you see, I don't really want to attack everyone that deals with cars and makes money on it. I just get upset when the only thing that seems important is money.
