My dad passed away in the last few years and he has a gt500 1969 Cobra Shelby with a 428 Cobra Jet engine. Great Condition. It is currently for sale and trying to determine the real value. I was told to look on the engine block to see if numbers match the vin #....Not sure if this is accurate...i need someone who knows about this car on where can i look to see how things match up and how do i go about doing this? Need to know what I am selling. Thanks!

What is the VIN as found on the drivers side upper dash (as viewed through the windshield)?

Is there any rust (inside, outside, underneath, tops of the inner fender panels in the engine compartment)?
How much mileage is showing on the odometer?
    What color is it (inside/outside)?
Has it ever been repainted (you may see signs of overspray on the exterior trim or weather stripping)?

As for value, that depends on just how well kept and original the car is. Why not take a bunch of pictures and post them here. We can then attempt to further assist you in regards to a rough valuation of your fathers old Shelby.

Finally, where is the car located (a nearby major city and state only is suggested) so that perhaps we can point you to a Shelby knowledgeable person who can further assist you.

    Sincerely,

    Bill S.
