    Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently building a 66 GT-350H tribute car and hope to own an actual GT-350 some day. Growing up, I helped my dad restore his GT-350, 6S1097, which he has owned since the late 80's. This forum has an immense breadth of knowledge and I've enjoyed reading through the various topics.

My question is can anyone recommend a good book for restoring a 65 & 66 GT-350? I'm not looking for a step-by-step restoration book, more of a book with detailed diagrams/pictures that shows the differences between a Mustang and Shelby. For example, the differences in fuel pump-to-carb metal lines between a 65/66 Mustang & 65-66 GT-350.

    Thanks for the help!
    Brent

Agreed there is no guide or good book for restoring these vehicle. There are a few helpful things but each detail must IMHO be compare to other resources as any printed publication has incorrect information and was out of date the moment it was printed.

Your best resource is a great forum focused you your type of car, populated with experienced people who have studied those cars that are willing to help guide a receptive owner. In this way any post or responses to you questions get automatic per review (something that can not happen with emails or phone calls) and you get access to the most current information - as our understanding of some details is always being reviewed and new details discovered

Also noticed that you lumped 65 and 66's together. When you get into restoring the cars these cars are very different. Even within the production year. First hundred 65's are very different from the last 100 65's. First (carry over) 66's are very different from the mid year or late 66 cars.

You get the idea. ;) I'm sure
    Good luck

Hope we can help - BTW we own a Shelby about 100 numbers from yours

And definitely get a copy of the SAAC World Registry Vol 2 with details about the early GT350.

As others have said, no single book exists and you will need to use the forum and you will need to review many pictures to pick up details. That being said the Shelby American Guide has good info and can usually be picked up on ebay or amazon for less than the SAAC world registry.

    You can also check the following websites for more detail info;
    For '65 specific info-
    http://1965gt350mustang.com/
Go to the "by the numbers page".

    For the '66 carryovers-
    http://www.carryovergt350.com/
Go to the Unique features page and then follow the picture links as you want.

    Hey everyone,

    These sources look great.

I hadn't heard of the Ford assembly manuals and those look quite detailed. Here's a website selling many of the manuals:
    http://www.perogie.com/assemblymanuals.htm

I purchased this 1966 Mustang Part & Body Illustrations ebook and it's quite helpful (includes Mustangs and GT-350's):
    http://www.fordmanuals.com/estore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=239

Jeff, ironically enough, my dad is a retired firefighter and lives on the central coast with 6S1097. I wasn't clear enough in my original post, but I meant to ask for a book that differentiates between 65 & 66 years AND between Mustangs & GT-350's.

Jay, I'd forgotten about those two websites but they are awesome. I read through http://1965gt350mustang.com/ again and it has some really good info.

I was under the impression that the SAAC World Registry Vol 2 contains the specific history of each Shelby car. Does it also contain a lot of specifics/pictures that are helpful for a restoration?

    Thanks again
    Brent
