I'm looking to buy a 428 and I found one that a guy says that ford told him the engine he has came out of an early, within the first three months 67 gt 500.

    It's a C6ME-A block, C6AE- U heads, and a original cast iron PI intake c6AE-9425-G.

In early cars would this have been possible? It does have 428 internals.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Matt

Matt it sounds like the seller is uninformed or trying to tell you a bunch of BS to justify the inconsistencies. All 67 GT500 came from the factory with 2X4 early, late and in between. The heads are not 67 GT500. The original PI (not Shelby)intake in 1966 ,67,and 68 were aluminum and were single four and NOT cast iron. Does this so called GT500 engine have the correct oversize C6AE 427 style balancer with the single pulley made into it which was used on 66/67PI or the smaller balancer like a normal 390 or 428 .I would check the bore to confirm 428. I would proceed with much caution. If this part of the story is bogus what else could be?

What date codes have you found, especially on the block?

They could range from several weeks to several months on the blocks when compared to the build date at Ford with the typical being inbetween somewhere.

Sure, but it'd be nice to know his date code. If it's six months older, or six days newer, I think I might question the originality.

The C6AE-G intake was the iron 390GT manifold. He probably has a parts collection, not a Shelby engine.
