Shelby dealers, back in the 60's...

Believe the easiest place to find one is in the back pages of the registry +

Illinois- Yount, River Oaks, University, Courtesy, Milo Brooke. Jim Aikey, Jack Loftus, RRR, Sexton, Bob Murphy, Willett, Frontier, Fergus Ford

Missouri - Riesmeyer, Schanzmeyer. Broadway, Pau'ls, Yates-Stevens, Fellimni-Mayfield, Gateway Ford

 

You'll need to tell us what year(s). For instance, early on there was Jack Loftus Ford (Hinsdale IL), Milo-Brooke (Chicago ?), University Motors (Champagne) in Illinois, later joined by many others like River Oaks Ford (Calumet City IL) and others some will name.
Playboy issues often had a Shelby ad listing all the dealers.

 

I know Yates-Stevens was for 1968 for sure, that's where my KR came from.

I actually have a list of all the dealers in the country and what cars went where for 1968.

I will try and dig it up, photograph it and post it online for you guys to print out.

Yes, I can look it up for you. Are you looking for a specific car or just a number? Since all cars were basically the same, it would be helpful to know your reasoning....especially if I am going to dig this out.

 

I grew up in Fergus Falls (where Fergus Ford was)(pop.13,000) and remember 2 Shelby's that were sold there new.I am curious if either of these cars survived.One of them was owned by my best friend.If either of these cars ever came up for sale I would love to buy it.I believe these were the only 2 they sold.Thanks so much for your help

 

A recent Shelby American article says Fergus sold eleven total Shelbys. I am not able to identify the cars. I did look for 1966s and nothing jumped out. So, I would recommend you call upon the 1966 Registar to see he can help. I didnt see any 1968s either. I will continue the scans....

 

I found six 69s, so we are down to five possible cars.

 

That is amazing...... ....I had no idea they sold that many cars in a town of 13000.So do you know how many, if any cars have been found?I really appreciate you taking the time to work on this.

 

Of the six I saw in Registry, four had owners listed. Thats about normal, the rate of Shelbys accounted for is probably around 75-80%. The others are in the Registry, I just havent spotted them yet.....

I was the Shelby Rep at Reismeyer Ford till it was sold to another dealer in mid 1966, at that time the Shelby Francise was passed on to Yates Stevens Ford in St Louis county, I then went on a the performance rep at a local Chevrolet dealer. I have all info on cars bought and sold by Riesmeyer Ford, also the most rare GT 350 a red Supercharged loaded car that was to be, the only one told to me when I ordered it from Shelby. I can be of help anyone with info contact, I am personally looking for my 1965 GT 350 that was the first Drag Shelby Mustang that later Shelby duplicated in late 65 and 66 with left over 65 bodies. I can discribe the car by items unique mods and serial #'s, not sure of exact # as I had two GT 350 cars but have #'s on both, one driver and one race car, also a 427 black 65 car that was also mine, never raced but used by myself for Shelby outings.

The 1965 car is probably 5S217. It was sent to Riesmeyer and later drag raced.
