Shelby Mustangs and the Marketplace

    I'm curious as to your opinions of this collector car market for original Shelby's of any type. It looks to me like all of the original Shelby's are disappearing from the marketplace as collectors buy them up. That's great for the equity portfolio but it sure does limit what is available to buy. What do you guys think is happening now? Joe Bright.

    You are correct, I'd say easily 80% of the "great" cars are hiding in private collections and will most likely not see the open market again. Buyers are very educated these days and know what they want. Occasionally a large sum of money will break free a great car, it is happening more these days as buyers realize you have to pay a premium to get premium cars. The old sang "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" is very true of cars. Once a wreck, always a wreck - no matter how pretty the paint may be. Just my opinion, which combined with a couple of bucks will get you a hamburger at McDonalds.LOL
