    Ah, the power of the internet. Looking forward to being a part of this forum. I just got my Dad's 1966 GT 350 and am anxious to learn more about these cars. My father was the original owner of this Shelby. I've always dreamed of the day when I got the keys handed to me. That day was yesterday, and I was grinning from ear to ear. I'm thrilled to find Shelby Forums so that I can do this car justice. Thanks in advance!, Dan

    You are correct sir! I am a year shy of 40. I've dreamed of having my father's car ever since I was old enough to walk. I was a year old when he got the car. I'll post some pics soon. I have some great ones of me in the car as a kid and now as an adult.

    Well here they are... pics of my baby. I know it needs some TLC, but it starts and drives just fine. I will be driving this car too, my father only put 200 miles on it in the last 20 years. I'm sure the more observant fans out there will notice that the wheels are not original. My dad said the original wheels were replaced with these "Foremost" 5 spoke wheels back in the 70's. I'm wondering if I should just clean them up or try and get a set of repoductions on the car. I see that there were a couple of different options available. The 10 spoke wheels, the 5 spoke(cragars?).....what do you all think? I know I'd have a hard time getting a set of original wheels. So what is my next best alternative? You'll have to look at fnkmstr67's pictures in the members photos section, I couldn't add them to this post.

    Great Car! It is great seeing them in this condition. My vote is for some original or repo cragars :thumbup: Also an original side mirror ;) By the way, did this car come from the factory without the stripes?

    Yes it came without the stripes down the center of car, also the mirror on the drivers door is the original dealer installed mirror. It is in a bad location as far as seeing behind/beside you and it won't hold it position. I would like to replace it with a mirror that would be correct for the car. Any suggestions? I've seen a bullit style mirror in the NPD catalog. What mirror is generally found on these cars? Did they put them on the passenger side as well? Thanks for looking at my car.

    Thats really rare that it came without stripes, I actullay like that look better than with. It should have the bullitt style on the driver side only I believe. That is unusual also. Is this a matching motor, trans, panels? I love it.

    The motor and tranny are original to the car. 289 with an automatic. It had rear quarters put on back around 1985 I think. All other sheetmetal and fiberglass is original. Anyone have and information as to where the bullit style mirror mounts. I'm sure it wouldn't use the same holes as the mirror I currently have.

    On the Wheel options, I would keep what is on there. Maybe remove the Blue Paint and go back to the Flat or semi Gloss Black that those wheels came with when new. Drive and enjoy! :thumbsup:

    Congratulations on "keeping it in the family". Did you get any/all of the original purchase paperwork with the car?

    Does it still have the original carburator, and if so, which carb is it? I ask because I once owned 6s377 (briefly, almost 10 yrs ago) and, while later (especially Hertz) '66 a/t cars retained the "factory" Ford (K-code) carb, earlier a/t cars like 377 got the same 715 cfm that the 4-sp cars got.

    Regarding wheels--IMHO, the "best-looking" aftermarket wheel for this car (1st generation GT350, and 1st gen. Mustang f/b in general) has *always* been the American Racing Torque Thrust, and if you "buy 'em right" today--the A/M repops--you can choose from a broad range of diameters, widths & offsets.

    PLEASE--keep the list informed on your adventures/"progress" with this car.
