Shelby Tach not working

    I wonder if anyone has repaired their tachometer. The one in my 66 GT350 doesn't work. Hopefully a loose wire or bad solder joint. I asked my father, who is the original owner, and hes said he took the tach out once to look at it but when the tach is disconnected, the car won't start. Does this sound right. Do I dare open up the tach myself, I have some experience with electronics and can do a good job of soldering. What do you's think?

    Circuit needs to go threw the tach. in order to be complete. That is why the car won't start without the tach. You could bypass the tach to make it run. As far a fixing the tach. yourself. If you feel confident, take the back off. It only has the one chrome nut on the back and take a look and see if anything is loose/off. If you can't see anything then there are many places that rebuild tachs.

    Thanks for the info, I'll carefully look at the tach myself and see what I find. If I don't find anything obvious, can anyone recommend a place that would repair this tach? Thanks

    I have a similar problem with my 68 gt350. The tach wire to to coil was not attached and the tach was not working when I bought the car. When we attach the tach to the coil the car will not start.

    In the mean time, I am driving with the tach wire off.

    Here's my question, how do you find someone who knows how to fix a tach or details of how to fix one your self?

    With what a 8k tach is worth these days, I would send it to a professional. Mine was working but I sent it out for cleaning, face detailing and calibration to D&M restorations. There are other good ones out there as well.

    Do you have an adress and phone number for DM restorations, I took my tach out, and need to send it out to get it repaired. Do you think they can fix the shelby clock too?
