I know in the mopar camp our little turbododge cars get absolutely no respect. How do you Ford guys feel about our little cars? I get the feeling that some (one) don't respect them at all. I say some because I was talking to a guy with a shelby mustang, I asked him a question,(yes it was a legitimate question not a smart alecky comment), can't remember what it was, he asked if I had a shelby I said yes a GLHS. He then treated me like I had the plague. Not trying to start a mud flinging contest. Just asking a question. I personally love all Mopars no matter what year. I personally would kill for a 65 Mustang 2+2 red on red or any shelby automobile.
i believe CS said cars were made to be driven. if you enjoy your GLHS then be happy i think it is such a joke, the guys with the replicas looking down their noses at the kit cars and fabricated cars wasn't the SC Cobra the original kit car? Carroll stuffing a ford motor into a little AC body? at least you have an original i know in the GT40 world, most of their "original" replicas have 15" wheels on all 4 corners, not even close unless they are 10.30 front and 13.5 rear. be happy with your original the 4 cyl 2.3 turbocharged Ford is capable of 417 hp unless u go to 351 or larger SB u have all the power you need the BB fords weigh a half a ton and produce massive power, but who wants to drive all that weight around?
It upsets me to hear the type of reaction you received is still around, but it should really not surprise anyone. There is a good amount of 'snobbery' among collecters of high performance cars. I concur w/ your first respondant; if you enjoy the car, that's what matters. If we should meet at a SAAC gathering I'd admire your GLHS as much as any other Shelby product at the event.
