    I have been reading a ton of things about the actual production model of the new GT 500. I have seen all of the pictures, at least i am pretty sure i have. I have a 67 shelby and i really wanted a new one, but if Ford decides to take a well designed concept car and turn it into a piece of s@%t with a crapy hood, no trunk lettering, and decal stripes I plan on canceling my order. I mean if your going to take a crap in a box put the shelby name on it and call it a gt 500 i'me not buying. If they are going to make one they need to make it right. If Carol Shelby cut all of the corners the SVT guys are talking about then we would care less if they were making another GT500. It is almost like when they moved the shelbys to dearborn in 68, they became a little less shelby and a little more ford, and if you drive the two you can tell the difference.

    I would not get too excited right now in that everything is pretty much at the prototype stage. I am sure that there will be options plenty to personalize your car to your desires. I think the SVT guys will get it right and certainly Shelby will have some sort of say on the final production model. This car is far from s@% in a box. It would be a top seller even without the Shelby name. I am sure you know the story of why Ford move 68 and later production back nearer to Dearborn so I won't replay that song. By the way the quality of fiberglass, ride quality and uniformity in parts on 68 and later years is way superior to the 67 and earlier years. Can you guess why???

    LOL, Remove everything about Shelby off of it for all I care. It's the next Cobra, with a blown 330 and a live axle on a proven platform. What's not to be happy about. :thumbsup:

    The 67 as well as the 66 and 65 are a much better handling car. If you want a cruiser then you need to stick with the 68 through 70 cars. Anyone who has owned both will agree. I agree it is exciting that the new cobra will have gobs of power, it is not exciting that they may plaster the shelby name on a car that is sub par. If they are going to create a shelby they need retain all of the wonderfull styling they showed at the auto show. If not, just call it a cobra and be done.

    But if the styling is the main issue here? I thought that the beauty of the original Shelby's was in their utilitarianism. Not many frills, maybe a stripe or two, but with the originals its all about speed. So if this is the fastest Shelby yet, shouldn't the appearnence be a secondary issue?

    The 1967 drive just as bad as the 68, most of the guy's that own one will tell you the same thing.
    BTW, does anyone think the new mustang looks like it's test mule that was paraded around ? Bean counters will make the final cuts.

    a "Wait and see" policy needs to be applied to this theory. everything else is mere speculation....

    I am definitely willing to wait and see what the final production will be. The main thing for me is it is based off the old/new design and has a lot of performance. I don't think I will be disappointed. :dance:
