I've not seen premiums listed as such in the past, but have encountered essentially the same thing in the parts and collectibles under the guise of "handling fees" (amoung other terms). every now and then I bid on something and find OUTRAGEOUS charges tacked on-- i.e. a $3 item, $2 shipping expenses, $20+ handling fee... yes... yes... from a "Super Seller" or what ever they pay a fee to call themselves.

I'd rather know a flat percentage up front... actually, I'd rather I learned to read the endless pages of fine print first... no... I think I need to read enough to know if a financial enima is the seller's suprise bonus -OR- if there's more legalize than a home loan -AND- pass on the item.

I think I get stung once a year or so as a wake-up call.
