If you are truly a buyer, and suspicious...
...just contact the seller, ask for the VIN ( which he has said that he checked) and contact SAAC for a verification that the VIN matches 6S514.

Wonder why he doesn't give a picture of the
Shelby serial number plate. The stamping will
give it away immidiately. Also, an owner that
doesn't know for sure if his car is legitimate or not
    sends shivers up my spine.
The idea to call and check the Ford number
with SAAC is the only way to be sure.

A couple of things I noticed is that it has under-ride traction bars. It should have over-rides, and the export brace should have the support piece welded to the cowl.

here is a collection of pictures he sent me. I put them on a link. http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?folder_id=1490309 the serial number plate is in there and those in the know will know what is wrong. the lack of Door trim tag also indicates a problem. and for a guy as savvy about Shelby's as he claims to be, how come he has not approached SAAC with it? on a lighter note,it is a very attractive Clone car and shopuld be looked at as such. although it could possibly seduce a fool.

I agree, It is a nice clone. The problem is that he is really trying to pass it off as a real Shelby. Also, it is not supposed to have the door trim plate. I think the sales price will indicate the authenticity.

I am by no means an expert on 65-66 cars. I just want one. I was unaware that they did not have a Door tag. but I contacted the 65-6 Registrar Howard Pardee and sent the pics and info to him. which is always the way to go when investigating any Shelby Cars. as for the price dictating Authenticicty, there is always a Fool thinking , "Wow I am so Lucky! Nobody is Bidding High on this real Shelby!! wait until I get it and go to register it!" I believe that there are no less than 2000 people who everyday look at Shelbys on ebay. at least 200 of them know exactly what to look for. the last place to get a Cheaply priced Shelby is on eBay. You can however find one when you are willing to pay for one!

Well, it looks like he ended the auction early, but bidding whent to 50K. I have a feeling someone is going to get burned on this deal. I assumed that people would be a little more diligent when spending that much for a car.

David, 67 Shelbys do not have door tags either. Somebody will or has brought the car after the auction ended. I saw a car like this one in Georgia about 8 years ago. Didn't have Shelby tag, wrong paint, didn't have right motor, didn't have overrides ..... Did have two chains holding the motor in place (un@#$% believable). Really laughed my ass off when the guy told me it had just had a frame off restoration. Said he was going to take it to the Amelia Island big car show and sell it there if no one meets his asking price. I wonder if this is the same car. Didn't bother to write Shelby number down because I knew the plate was BS. In hind sight I wish I had.

in a sense this is one of the reasons that a Shelby Forum is needed. to discuss what is right and wrong about various cars as they pop up. in the past without the internet, it was very difficult to maintain this type of information. today we are fools if we do not!

With the high prices for originals right now, the incentive is definitely out there for unscrupulous people to try and make some easy money selling fakes. I am not talking about clones. There is certainly a place for clones as long as they are admittedly such and not passed off as originals. It is absolutely imperative for buyers to be well informed when making their purchase these days. I commend all of you guys that are ready and willing to answer questions and help people determine originality as well as point out the impostors on eBay and elsewhere.
