Torque Boxes

    Hi Guys

    I have a question.
    Did 65/66 Shelby Mustangs have torque boxes in the front?
    I just know the rear ones, but nerver heard of torque boxes in
    the front?? Can you help? :confused:
    Do you have pictures from under the car so i could see them?

    Yes they do. Sorry no pic. You can get them from most Mustang parts supply companies. About $42.00.

    While I suffer from CRS ever more often, here's my memory :rolleyes: -- looking at exploded chassis diagrams would likely correct me here :doh: ... Front torque boxes were originally used on only convertible chasses in 65-6. By '67, a torque box was added to the driver's side of hardtops, and by the end of the year, torque boxes were standard on all Mustang models-- both sides. The easiest visual description I can provide is thus: Look behind the front tire toward the driver's toe board. In the earlier models you see a single sheet of metal, probably 18 gage or so, setting at the angle of, well... the toe board. The torque boxes added a secondary triangular, box structure of 14(?) gage metal that extended straight down as the vertical plane of the firewall, and running horizontally back about a foot. Widthwise, they ran from the front frame horn out to the outer rocker structure.
