I'll be working over the Shelby Dakota over the next few months, some up grades, but mostly just getting it back to its former self. Re-paint, same color (white)...installing a Sir-Mikes steel bolt in rear roll pan...Replacing grille and headlight bezels with NOS pieces. Pulling the front clip, replacing some wear parts while I'm there, water pump, t-chain, have the rad boiled, belts hose's, installing Mopar valve covers, beather, flowtech headers. Brakes complete ..(calipers, pads, rubber lines, check steel lines) installing SVT 17X9 wheels with Kumo tires. Hope to be on the road by March if weather permits! Pics to come.
i've got two motors to do. a 2.3 liter ford Turbocharged, hoping to get over 400 hp the new Formula 1 rules for 2005 limit motors to 2.4 liter and a windsor 427 i was going with a CHP stroker kit, but after reading some bad news on the forums about them, i will have to go a different route. hoping to get 600 ponies out of that one this "winter project" has virtually stopped all auto crossing, drag racing etc. i guess it's time to catch up on some back in black music and get to work
I am planning on replacing the carpet in my CSX. I am replacing the hatch seal and probably the window sweeps on my GLH-S also.
We ran a 416 (I think thats correct) windsor in our dirt track car years ago, don't remember alot about it, I know it had Cleveland heads and seems like we used adapter plates between them and the intake. We broke 2 of them before we got it right, after that....9 feature wins and won the champ that year.....wondering what type of car it was? This was in 1992, in the late model division but the cars had to be a production car with a steel body, stock floor pans and stock frame rails.....now don't hate us but we raced a 1969 Mustang fastback, it had 1970 head light buckets and ol yes, it had the stock adjustable wing on the rear. Some Pics...Please excuse the dust in the air...
My car needs a repaint, the colapseing primer problem . . . that and school should keep me busy . . .
Thinking of a Tremec 5spd swap into my 67 GT350, tired of rolling highspeed on cruises in 4th gear with no overdrive gear, burning up gas and screaming high rpms. I'd just put the 4psd under the workbench after freshening it up a bit. I cruise mostly with Superformance Cobra/Daytona Coupe owners, and it's tough keeping up with 550hp cars to begin with, but when they're rolling in 5th or 6th gear, I can't even keep up very well.
I have a few actually, I have a Turbo III motor to finish for the Daytona, a 16 valve Maserati motor to complete for the GLH-S and I'd like to get carpet and new paint for the CSX, not to mention a new turbo and intercooler. Mark
Finishing the garage, just built a 28X42 attached garage with 12' ceiling for lifts. Finally had the doors put up a couple of weeks ago. Then the fun starts, first on the list is the 71 R/T Charger and then I will start on one of my Shelby's, currently have 7 numbered Shelby's cosisting of 3 Lancers, 2 87 GLHS's and 2 Dakota's. This is probably a couple of winters work. Steve-o
Dang Steve, your loaded with projects! Sounds like you've got a nice garage also, welp all I can say is.....GET TO WORK!!
My winter project is to finish the 85 Omni GLH-Turbo I've been working on. What started as a parts car has now been redone for the most part and just needs assembly. The car is unique because it's got all the old school Direct-Connection performance parts on it. Intercooler kit, roll bar, hoodscoop, boost guage etc.. I also want to do some body work on my daily driver 90 Plymouth Voyager turbo 5-spd. And of course there is a 2.2 on the engine stand and some forged venolia pistons on the workbench that want to be united with the hope of eventually powering my 83 Rampage. That's just the tip of the project iceberg for me, I think I'm sitting around 16 cars right now, and 11 of them are projects.
wuwu i have only seen the Cleveland heads. i got som TFS "o" ring 2.02 al heads for my 427 windsor. i am trying to keep the weight down as it is going in the 66 shelby dont know how long the T5 will last, but i have a spare and a spare 3.73 trac loc waiting in the wings all i need for the 427 is a set of head gaskets and some time. precious commodity this time of year
I tried out my 5th gear tonight in the COBRA. It is nice! My 68 GT500 had 3.50 rear gears and cruising at 70 I was wishing I had a 5 speed in that car. I have read good stuff about it as well. I looked into it and I think you can do a 1st class job for under $2500.00 in parts. all new that is. try www.moderndriveline.com I believe that is the web site I looked at. let us know how you like it.
