66 Clutch Linkage Springs

Discussion in 'Shelby Mustang List' started by DMGT350@aol.com, Nov 5, 2005.

  1. I'm trying to figure out the correct engine compartment clutch linkage return
springs for 6S1757, late March 66 build date.

When I bought the car in 1987 it had the original upper spring which connects
to a hole in the upper HiPo Z-bar arm on one end and to a bracket in the
firewall on the other. According to the Ford Master Parts Catalog (FMPC) this is
part# C6ZZ-7523-C and correct after 2-14-66. So far so good but it also came
with the long 14" lower spring which connects to the clutch fork on one end and
a hole in the lower shock tower on another. According to the FMPC this spring
    is part# C5ZZ-7523-A and correct before 2-14-66.

Again according to the FMPC, my car should have a lower spring with part#
C6ZZ-7591-A which attaches to a hole in the lower HiPo Z-bar arm on one end and I
assume (?) the clutch fork on the other end. The Z-bar and upper spring are
confirmed original to the car but I don't know about the lower spring. The
Z-bar does have a hole in the lower arm.

    Thanks, any help appreciated!
    Dave
