I called the ford hotline about the GT-500 availability, & they said once production is ramped up, they will make them in volume, ie, all the market can bear. If you have to have one the first month they might be scarce, otherwise no.

Very interesting News. It might be prudent for those who are not willing to pay over MSRP to remove their names from lists and just wait. This would reduce how much dealers can justify asking over MSRP.

The current high gas prices should keep the demand and therefore price of this car reasonable.

MSRP is closer to $40K, but 'availability' fees could bump that another $10K if all the names are still there. Gas prices around here are now lower than they were prior to Katrina. And, I agree that the price of gas will not be a concern to those who really want this car; like me. I'm pleading w/ all those not willing to pay over MSRP to remove their name from all lists for this car.

Sure give me 10K and I'll remove my name.

In Canada there are Laws that protect the Consumer from Retail price gouging. Simply put, a Certified Ford Dealer is restricted from Selling a vehicle higher than the MSRP. They can sell it lower, but not higher.
The only way the Dealer can get around the law is by putting the vehicle up for auction.
Also, there is no such thing as a Non-refundable deposit.

#1 on the waiting list at Erinwood Ford, Mississauga Ontario for an 07' Shelby

How much would you pay for the same car if it only said GT500 and not Shelby ? Might just be a rumor but I heard yesterday there were still differences on fees to Shelby for using the Shelby name.

For myself, if the GT500 doesn't materialize as a Shelby then #2 behind me on the waiting list will become #1.
I won't accept anything less than a designated Shelby model and it must be cabable of being Registered with the SAAC.
It's all that I've been waiting for.................

I guess the license plates will be relegated to hanging in the girls room if that does not happen!

I would be willing to Trade Patent Rights to one of my Inventions (that I was told could be worth over a Million Dollars) for a 2008 Shelby GT 500 Convertible. Since I can't afford to Patent any of my Invetions, I decided to sell or trade a few of them.

When C$ started the GT500 program I went to a local dealer in Ft Worth to look at one he had. Beautiful car, until I came to the bottom line of the sticker and found a $10,500 'Market Adjustment'----and no sale. I waited and bought one from Sam Pack for $8500 below the orig MSRP, with 11,000 miles. Did the same thing when I bought my Ford GT from Sam. I suppose it helps when I buy my business trucks and family cars from Sam, but I have not heard of him gouging people with 'Market Adj's' or similar bs.
