Did anyone see the fake Elenor Super snake on E-bay a $100,000 more than Charley paid for the real thing? Out of all the Eleanor Cars out there, this is a "REAL" one! True Shelby Purists see these as a joke. Carroll Shelby and S.A.A.C. believe that they are Shelby Continuation series Cars. Having had a CSX4000 series COBRA, I believe in his products. I believe this Eleanor will kick the snot out of any Original 67 GT500 Produced. It will Outhandle and be much nicer to cruise with the AC on and a Kickass sound system to boot! if given my choice, I would take Charley's Super Snake any day over one of these cars. It is all a matter of Dollars and "Sense". whether or not the sense is "Common" or "Copper" is up to the beholder!! :laf:

I know some call the Elenors real, but it is not comparable to a CSX 4000 series which is made by Shelby from new parts. These are made from old Mustangs and are not even built by Shelby. No doubt it will out perform my old 67. I just wanted to start a thread to discuss how these "continuation" cars are asking for more than original Shelby's.

I totally agree. Any modern updates on a old set up will kill a car that is original. You can't compare them. One was made today and the other 38 years ago. Of course the newer one would out do it in every catagory. All but one, it isn't the real deal. Sure they say it is and it has the Shelby number, but the newer ones started out as a Mustang. They were used up, found in a field, barn etc. Then totally restored into a Elenor. Great performance, well thought out parts, quality cars. Looks, well to each his own. I personaly would rather have a 38 year old Shelby that began life, always was and will be a Shelby. Put some modern parts on it and have the best of both worlds. Not to tick anyone with a Elenor off, I think it is a great Elenor with matching performance. I wouldn't call it a 67 Shelby.

I am going to look at and Probably Buy a 67 GT500 in a few days. I could get an Eleanor if I wanted to .....But I'll stick with the original cars myself. the CSX4000 COBRA was awesome and a new Forum member here that I know from Club Cobra, "Power Surge" Bought it and will be terrorizing Long Island shortly.

I own a real 67 GT 350. I don't have to "pretend" anything. Makes me feel allright.
I don't have to make up a story, I don't have to believe something not real is somehow real.

I've read that by 1968 Carroll Shelby had contracted the building of his Shelby Mustangs to a company in Texas and he was no longer actually doing the building through his in house company, Carroll Shelby Automobiles Inc.

If this is in fact true it's hard to believe all the Dodge cars in the 80's were built in house while over half the Shelby Mustangs were not.

If Shelby Mustangs weren't so spendy I'd buy one, perhaps some day. Think I'd pick up a big block E body Mopar first!

Shelby Supersnake Convertible 1 of 7 being produced.

After seeing this car on the Discovery channel I had to have one. I called www.uniqueperformance.com the following day and found out they were all sold out. Their sales manager put me in touch with a gentleman who was willing to sell his before it was built. I called him and we negotiated a deal.

My "rescued" Mustang will be a 1967 convertible which is coming in the next few weeks. I should have my 725hp supercharged Shelby in 6 months.

When asked if they were "Real" Shelby's, Carroll himself said I am the only one who can say if they are a Shelby or not and I if I say it is a Shelby then it is a ....... Shelby!

He signs the dashboard, it goes into the Shelby world registry as a shelby with a Shelby Vin.

I understand those who say it is not an original etc... but all the Shelby was, was a modified Mustang which is exactly what I am getting, only 30 years later.

This car will be only 1 of 7 in the world, which I think is pretty neat. I have not decided on a color yet so if anyone has any ideas, let me know. Leaning towards one like this:

    Happy Holidays to all.

    Re: Super Snake GT500E

I just saw this thread from a few months back. I was very new and excited about my new car!!

I went down to Unique Performance to check on my Supersnake in February and I have a whole new respect for what they do, good guys who have several original Shelby's and camaro's they are restoring too. Since December I bought two original Shelby's to have a small stable of Pony's. This stuff is addicting!!!

I think Shelby continuation is a good and fair way to charaterize them given the amount of involvement from SAAC and Shelby American. If these guys were off on their own doing this that would be one thing, but I got to see in person the involvement they have with SAAC and Shelby and was pretty impressed.

My car was in Vegas getting sheet metal when I was in Texas but I got to see some other very cool stuff in their shop. They love cars just like all of us and in my opinion are helping drive the market for original Shelby's. I think they are touching a whole part of the market that was untapped for collectors.
They fill a void in the collecting world for people who love the old looks with today's performance and want a "Driver". I don't think I am going to take my KR Convertible to the track and push it but I sure will take the Supersnake.

Here's what the finished car will look like below. As far as I know I have the only White and Blue Striped Supersnake Convertible. You guys can drive it in Vegas next year if you want, I will have it there. 0-60 in 3.6, HOLD ON!!

I will post the donor car shortly, file size is too big.
