If not, what is the (5) bolt pattern that I need? Also, does anyone have any suggestion for locating something that I can use as a spare without spending a fortune? I don't want my luck to run out driving without a spare tire and I would like to find something that would fit in the trunk. Thanks Lee 66 # 869 69 # 2055

This tire is definitely the incorrect size for any vintage Mustang. Whether it will fit or not, I am not sure and others will probably be able to answer that question. The question I asked myself when in the same dilemna with our Shelby was, "how many times have I ever had a flat tire?" The answer is that in over 50 years of driving, probably less than 5 and never ever with a vintage car. The second question I asked myself was, "would I jack up our Shelby to put any type of spare tire on it?" and the answer was "NO." I probably would have called CAA or AAA in the U.S. and have them do it. We had the correct sized space saver spare in our Shelby and under no circumstances would we ever use it - the inflation canister was empty. Just some thoughts for you to consider IF your Shelby is a show car. If it is a driver, that's another story and you can ignore all of the above. RE: Colin Comer in Road and Track As I recall, it was an editor's choice award for car they'd most like to drive - his Cobra. You need a 5 on 4 1/2 space saver. You can get a good one that could be used, from Tony at T and D motors. I carry one with a mini compressor. It works in a pinch, and fits the small shelby trunks nicely. all the best, Dan Belick ----- Original Message ----- From: GT350HZ@aol.com To: shelbymustang@carmemories.com Sent: Monday, November 14, 2005 8:34 PM Subject: Space saver question http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7946970519&fromMakeTrack=true I was wondering if this would fit the 1969 Shelby as an emergency spare tire? Re: Colin Comer in Road and Track Hi Mike, Thanks for the congrats. It was pretty cool to win the R&T trophy, esp. considering my car wasn't officially in the concours! My 65 GT-350 was, and it won "Best Street Car" Saturday night. Sunday am I had the GT-350 in position in the awards area, and was talking to Peter Egan from R&T. I told him I thought it was funny that my 350 had been our race car support vehicle all week, and we had to take the fuel jugs out of the back and dust it off to go to the concours. I told him I expected the Cobra to win, not my 65! He said "You mean the Cobra isn't coming here?" I said no, it didn't win. His response was that R&T didn't care, THAT was the car they wanted to get the "Car We'd Most Like to Drive" trophy and told me to go get it. So, I guess when your magazine sponsors the concours you can do what you want! LOL. For the last 5 years I have taken home a concours trophy in this concours every year, but never the R&T award. It was the one award that always eluded me! I was thrilled to win it. As you can see in the picture, I am still wearing my fireproof race t-shirt as I had just got out of the race car shortly before the award was handed out. And exactly 10 min. before the picture, my co-driver was involved in the 17 car pile up in the Group 6 race in my car. Just to my right was the crane lifting my wrecked car off of the pile. It was a true moment of pain with pleasure. LOL Now you know the rest of the story......
