"The GT500 will feature upgraded suspension, brakes and interior. However, it is the car's heart that makes it truly special. The Shelby's supercharged 5.4-liter, 32-valve V8 is based on the engine in the Ford GT, making it the most powerful factory-built Mustang in history. Projected to churn out over 475 HP with 475 ft. lbs of torque, the car will have a higher factory rating than the 1969 Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet or legendary 1969 Boss 429. The first GT500 is expected to be available in June 2006."

Any guesses as to what the winning bid will be?

With the hysteria that often shows up at Barrett-Jackson, I am guessing $150,000. I also realize I often underestimate what people are willing to cough up for these opportunities to be first.

Does anybody know if the 07 will have extra numbers after the vin like the old ones. Are they selling 0001 or the first one to the public. If they are selling 0001 I say 175K

This is some awesome news, but on the other hand if the car goes for well over 100k it could set the tone for some dealers to hold out & keep the prices high....lets hope it doesn't get out of hand at the auction.

I say sit and wait. Look what happened to the Ford Gt prices. The same will happen here. I don't believe the high prices will hold long especially when we know of 3 years worth of production. Thats close to 20000 units. I'll sit and wait it out.

I say wait until the 08 comes out (I always think the first year models are not the "best") then wait to find a 2 year old one with 10-15k miles. you will get it for 60% of the original price.
