In 1979 the original owner replaced the shelbys radio with a panasonic radio with a cassette player.

The panasonic unit does not work and fits badly. So,I stuck in a Sanyo AM-FM with a cassete unit that fits well, and give me something to listen to. It cost $ 89. Quick fix. Used Shelbys holes, and left off the face plate, and with a bit of black paint I can make the words Sanyo disappear.

The original speaker crumbled into dust as I touched it, so I had Car Toys mount a pair of 4 inch speakers in the same space under the dash.

It sounds like a 68 sound system did in my ancient days memories. But I really want to put in a sound system that I can enjoy after I hit fourth gear.

If I was doing this in 1968, I would put in the best sound sytem I could afford and mount speakers where they belonged. We did that stuff in 68. But now I want the Ghost to be as it would have been in 68, but with 2005 tech in very limited and subtle way.

What are yall's thought on sound sytems?

I feel the same way. I cut up more dash boards in mustangs than I can remember. But I don't think I would on my Shelby's. I don't drive mine for long drives and like to hear the motor.

put a small amp in it for the dash speakers. hide it near the speakers, plenty of room in there.

I used to think it was strange that so few 68's came with AM/FMs and 8 tracks but then I realized why. With the 428 and 3.50 gears and the windows down because no ac you can't hear it anyway.
