My steering wheel was original 68 and was cracked and missing chrome horn rim, liked the looks of the spoke and wood wheel in Branda catalog. Not stock, but looks good to me, anyway here is the question there is still a little bit of space between the bottom of the spoke wheel and the steering column. The steering wheel is secure, and feels good, however,at an angle looking into the car from the outside you can see the inside of the steering column. Has anyone else replaced thier steering wheel with a Branda spoke and wood wheel on a 68 shelby gt 350 or 500 without tilt steering wheel? How did it fit, did you have a space? How did you dress it up if you did?
On 67 and earlier cars the column is ajustable, just loosen the mounting bolts and slide it in the direction needed. I am sure the 68s can be moved a little too.
ghost, 68 columns are adjustable as mentioned above. I had the same problem with one of my cars. Save the original steering wheel they can be repaired to look brand new. Plus the price of original steering wheels is outrageous. Ranger Jerry
I did this switch a while ago - however when I finally switched out the turn signal wiring inadvert I broke the tilt /turn signal lever on left side of column -Any ideas of how and where to get the replacement for this ? Thanks guys
