I have some tire rub from my rear fenders. Thought about rolling the inside fender on the rear quarter and possibly front quarters to allow for more tire room.

They would be natural wilth the metal at a right angle to the fender at the bottom and start to taper about a third of the way up to a complete roll at about half way to the top of the wheel well.

It is something I would have done in the sixties. I have tire rub only on the rear tires. The the front has no evidence of tire rub and would not benifit from larger tires becase they would probalby rub on the steering linkage

Has any one here rolled the inside fenders on their cars?
Did you do front and rear or just rear ?
    Any negetives to it?

Any body modification will hurt the value, atleast rolling them can be corrected if needed.Maybe a different offset wheel would be a better choice.

If you mean rolling the weld lip up for tire clearance, well, if you need a paint job now, do it. Use a rubber hammer and be very careful. I have heard of folks rolling a wood baseball bat up in there, but once the metal starts to crease, it's all over.
The lip only needs to be raised up in the center, given the tire travel.

If you check the Shelby Regestry service bulletin # 67-7 there was a procedure described directly from Shelby American about modifying the fender flare inner lip.

    ghoust,

If you want to roll your fenders, go ahead. After all, it is your car. Do what pleases you. I have rolled the fenders on all of my Shelbys and it certainly
didn't "hurt" the value of the ones I've sold. It really adds to the appearance
of the wheel/tire combination. And as mentioned; there is a Shelby service
bulletin regarding improving tire clearance issues.

I have always used a Wooden Baseball Bat. Very simple, without damage.

Here is the WORST WAY I've seen (at www.vintage-mustang.com)

Put a baseball bat between the tire and the wheel well. If there is TOO MUCH interference, the entire quarter panel will crease about 2" above the lip.

There is a tool fixture that attaches to the axle ( just like mounting a wheel ) with an arm that has a large roller. The arm has handles; and one moves the roller back and forth around the wheelwell, applying
pressure ( pull towards you ) doing it in small increments. Easy to do.

What is the biggest 15" tire that can be used on all four corners on a '68 GT350?
Can you get away with a 245 or 255?
    Thanks

    Dr,
I have seen 235/60s put on 67-68 but I wouldn't try to go larger than that. I personally have 225/65s they look more correct and current tires are so good that you don't really need more width unless you are road racing.

i wouldnt do it ....if you ever decide to sell it any knowledgable enthusiast would want to deduct the cost to repair it(which could be considerable if they wanted it done righti.e. original ford tooled fenders)from the price they would offer....my 2 cents.Trent

My 67, #1317 has all four fenders rolled. It was already done
when I bought the car in June of 1977. No problems with
235/60-15 Good Year Eagle GTII. Have lowered the upper
control arms one inch as well as replacing the power steering with
    manual.

Actually rolling the fenders IS correct for (at least 67) Shelby Mustangs.

huh never heard that ...i have an original speedway 350(the original tire for 67)and as narrow as they are i cant imagine why they would need to roll the fenders....at any rate if they didnt do it on stock 68s i dont know how you could consider it as anything but intentional body damage:blink::blink:Trent
