Actually there are several variations of original 10 spokes that have the valve stems in different locations. The 1st and 3rd generation where on the outer part of the rim and the 2nd generation where between the spokes. The ones that would be specific for 68 (3rd gen) would have 1/8" cast in spacers to clear the calipers.

The originals had the valve stems where they are on 03223 and had tappered spokes with tappered lugnuts. The early repops had the valve stem relocated between the spokes, but still had tappered spokes. The later repops moved the valve stem back to where the originals were but the spokes have very little tapper and changed the lugnuts to a shank and washer style. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. Of course I haven't touch a car with ten spokes in ten years. I have slept and drank since them, so I could be completly off base here. It wouldn't be the first time. Larry

I was typing this as TLEa was entering his response, Like I said I could be completly off base!!

2nd generation have stem between spokes. I have a set with fully tapered spokes and a S7MS part number on the back.

Funny your wife and mine must be sisters because mine says the same thing about me :evo: . I have a theory about the early 10 spokes but not one I can confirm or deny. Because CS also had an aftermarket wheel business I am guessing he made 2 versions of the original 10 spokes. The ones designated for production cars received the 60 degree seats and the stems on the outer rim. The ones sold over the counter had stems between spokes and shank/washer lug seats. I have some old Shelby wheel brochures that show 10 spokes and though I can't see a good picture of the seats there is no mention or listing of special 60 degree lug nuts required. Wow, if this theory gets around, could it become a Shelby urban legend in 10-20 years?

    guys
so does the stem location on my 10 spokes mean they are originals? or are they just 20 year old repo's -- also as for the "invoices" -- i paid for the elite report and they were really cool and said they had the "second half" or something -- I'm assuming this to be the original docs that someone referenced above -- you guys are great -- you have more info than the supposed experts -- thanks -- john

The best I can tell from the photos, you have 20 year old repops. The photos show very little tapper on the long spokes running from the hub to the rim. Again I could be wron-urre-u, you know what I mean. Larry

The elite reports do not include Eminger docs. You have to request them seperate, I think they are $55 last I heard. As far as wheels easiest way to tell is see if lug nuts have tapered seats. If they do they are vintage (I don't use the word original because all but 3 68's had hubcaps and unlikely yours is one of the 3) Also even if they have conventional seats, look on the back of wheel and see if there is a S7MS 1007 D part #, these too are vintage.
