    I'm looking for a '65-68 350 or 500 with a manual trans. Any leads?

I just joined the SAAC but not sure when the newsletter will arrive. I know there is a classifieds section. I've checked Mershon's, Fraser Dante, ebay, Symbolic, Legendary, etc. to no avail.

I'd actually prefer to have a car that was modded with a hotrod engine, 5 speed, disc brakes, etc. I want to drive and enjoy it...but it *must* come with all original NOM parts. I'd like the option of returning it to original if I wanted it that way.

If anyone knows of one out there, please let me know. I'm a huge Mustang fan and have always wanted a Shelby.

I would like something very, very soon (next 2-3 weeks).

    Thanks!
    LS

 Have you ever thought of buying a rare GT/CS California Special or HCS High Country Special? The prices are very good on these right now. Alot of Shelby owners own these also. They come up every so often on Ebay. You can find out more about them on www.californiaspecial.com There is a GT/CS coming up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in January. :D

Thanks for all the links and replies. I like the CS cars, but the Shelby cars are what I've always wanted.

Anyone care to comment on this one?

    http://www.mershons.com/view_photo.asp?ID=5710&image=Exterior

I spoke with a salesperson at Mershon's and he says the engine is not original and he doesn't have the original T10.

With regards to Shelby cars in general, am I correct in assuming that the engine code/serial on the original block should match the code/serial indicated on the build sheet? And, the T10s do not have serial numbers only date codes?

    Thank you,
    LS

Most FORD Cars do not have the VIN on the Engine. But they do have a Date code cast on the block and heads. it should be no more than 90 days prior to the cars actual Build date. that is the general rule of thumb. 289 High Performance Engines did Have them. Boss 302 Engines had them, and some, but not all 428 and 428 CJ Engines had them. in 1968 Shelby's did not have T-10 transmissions. They Had a Toploader and a Tag on the side should read "RUG-S" if you are interested in 1968 Shelby cars, The best site I have found is www.1968cobra.com

I have both a 68 350 and a 500 and to me there is no comparison. I would not get rid of either but I would only buy another 500. The feel of the big block is to good. The price will reflect as well. Daltondavid has a friend with a 68 500

Lashss, there is a 67 GT500 a fellow CO region member has for sale. It is mostly disassembled all part except transmission and linkage are included. It is a Lime Green/Parchment, no rust car. Sounds like this could fit your ticket. Put it back togather as a show car or a go car. It's in the Snakebite Bulletin November #104 and will be in the next probably. If you can't find Garys add, let me know I could get him in touch with you. Good Luck in your search. Ranger Jerry

    Lash;

I have a '66 Hertz Car that I am selling. Numbers-matching and Black/Gold. Documented history, and never any rust or panel replacement. It is an automatic, but I thought you might be interested.

    Let me know.

If you're looking for a '65 there are two up for auction:

    1. SFM 5S075 is available at the Russo & Steele Jan. '06 auction in Scottsdale. Market estimate: $250,000 - $350,000.

    2. Barrett Jackson also has a '65 Shelby up for auction at its Jan '06 event in Scottsdale. You can preview the car on their website. They're overly protective and will not divulge the SFM number prior to auction.

    Best regards, Neil.

Well, I was ready to head up to Philly to check out DaltonDavid's friend's GT500 and Steve told me it's sold as of last night.

The car looked great and I was looking fwd to seeing it and probably buying it tomorrow night...the search continues.

Anybody have any other leads on cars?

Same criteria...no rust, must come with all original parts, but I'd prefer it be modded for open track or road racing. I want to drive it and enjoy it...no trailer queens.

I also found this link. Is anyone familiar with this car or its history?

Thanks for everyone's help so far. I've met some great people on this forum.

Hey, lashss, I forgot to mention that Fraser Dante in...

Atlanta has a 1968 G.T.350 highland green convertible (exactly like my #432 but with a white top) for sale for $115,000. You can see it on his website. Just wanted to let you know about that one. He sells a few Shelby's. Kind of difficult to deal with. Fair warning.

Thanks, I saw that car. I'm not so hot on convertibles...and it looks very stock to me.

Stock is great for maximum value, but I'd prefer something with some mods to keep the purchase price down and for more suitability on the race track.

I spoke with Fraser Dante on the '66 H that they had a few weeks ago. That was my perfect car, but I couldn't make it down there during the holidays. For some reason, the family couldn't quite understand that I wanted to take a trip to Atlanta to check out a 40 yr old Ford when everyone was in town visiting.

    They'll never learn! :)

    Symbolic's '66

This car looks like it's got a "story"...one that could be complicated...or very simple.

    http://www.symbolicmotors.com/mainpages/carpage.php?cid=1965Mustang289-302

    Anybody know anything about it?

It seems strange that a dealer as prolific as Symbolic wouldn't have access to "connections" that would be required to authenticate the car at SAAC.

    Hmm...

I'd put my budget at about $90k, hence the desire to stay away from trailer queens.

I'd rather spend $70k on an "enjoyed" and thoroughly prepped, but authentic race car which is not very stock. It still has to be in very good condition though.
