Have you ever thought of buying a rare GT/CS California Special or HCS High Country Special? The prices are very good on these right now. Alot of Shelby owners own these also. They come up every so often on Ebay. You can find out more about them on www.californiaspecial.com There is a GT/CS coming up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in January.

Most FORD Cars do not have the VIN on the Engine. But they do have a Date code cast on the block and heads. it should be no more than 90 days prior to the cars actual Build date. that is the general rule of thumb. 289 High Performance Engines did Have them. Boss 302 Engines had them, and some, but not all 428 and 428 CJ Engines had them. in 1968 Shelby's did not have T-10 transmissions. They Had a Toploader and a Tag on the side should read "RUG-S" if you are interested in 1968 Shelby cars, The best site I have found is www.1968cobra.com

I have both a 68 350 and a 500 and to me there is no comparison. I would not get rid of either but I would only buy another 500. The feel of the big block is to good. The price will reflect as well. Daltondavid has a friend with a 68 500

Lashss, there is a 67 GT500 a fellow CO region member has for sale. It is mostly disassembled all part except transmission and linkage are included. It is a Lime Green/Parchment, no rust car. Sounds like this could fit your ticket. Put it back togather as a show car or a go car. It's in the Snakebite Bulletin November #104 and will be in the next probably. i had a found a 69 gt 350 in michigan -- kip sheward (sp?) -- it was 4 speed and it was red with black gut -- originally it was supposed to be black with white gut ... but i spoke to kip -- nice guy -- he has a lot of nice cars -- he sells high end fords at Barrett -- he said this car was a nice driver -- i paid a guy to put his hands on it -- who confirmed that it was a nice driver the paint was maybe a 5 or 5+ -- but mechanically it was nice -- the rebuild appeared good -- interior nice -- he wanted 65k -- which honestlt is probably about right -- he had a lot of paperwork -- i was still toying with putting it in my garage...check it out -- collector car trader can get you to him also -- lemme know -- john

If you're looking for a '65 there are two up for auction:

1. SFM 5S075 is available at the Russo & Steele Jan. '06 auction in Scottsdale. Market estimate: $250,000 - $350,000.

2. Barrett Jackson also has a '65 Shelby up for auction at its Jan '06 event in Scottsdale. You can preview the car on their website. They're overly protective and will not divulge the SFM number prior to auction.

Hey, lashss, I forgot to mention that Fraser Dante in...

Atlanta has a 1968 G.T.350 highland green convertible (exactly like my #432 but with a white top) for sale for $115,000. You can see it on his website. Just wanted to let you know about that one. He sells a few Shelby's. Kind of difficult to deal with. Fair warning.
