Hi Everyone , im new to the forums, after almost buying a reproduction one i Found a gt-350 Intake for sale at a swap meet, not sure if i got it a ggod price ($450 canadian) but here it is, one carb mounting hole had a heli-coil in it , i removed it welded it up and re-tapped it, does anyone have any info on these intakes, how many were made each year, values, any info would be much appreciated
That is a late 67 /68 version intake. It is commonly refered to as a large number and letter intake because of the size of the S2MS engineering numbers and letters. It was used in later 67 GT350 production and more commonly used in 68 GT350 production along with the S7MS intake which was used in both years also. The extra threaded holes near the rear runner are for thermactor equipment which didn't come into use until the later 67 production. The extra threaded hole near the front runner was to mount the coil on the intake because it would not go in the normal spot on the front of the head where the smog pump was mounted. The earlier S2MS intakes used in 66 and early 67 production do not have the extra holes for smog equipment. For this reason the extra holes date the intake to the 67/68 time period .
