The right to buy the first 2007 Shelby GT 500 went for $648,000 at BJ today. Anyone think that was a good deal?

Remember it was a charitable expense.

Can we really put a price on the welfare of the kids?

Does anyone know what the 65 GT350 went for or that it has been sold yet?

Yeah, but don't they charge 8% for the seller also for a total take of 16%?

And did they donate that to Carrol?

I'M glad I bought mine 28 years`ago, the hobbie has turned into a big dollar business at the BJ,much like the stock market, only you can enjoy the car even if loses value. The number of cars built will never change, supply and demand at it's best.

So in the USA, what does an Individual get back at Income Tax time for a Charitable Donation? Here in Canada charitable donations are limited to a maximum of 75% of net income and the return is 39% to 48% depending on the Province you live in.
Buying that $648000 US Shelby in Canada would have still cost a minimum of $336960 US after taxes and I'd have to be making at least $810,000 US net income in order to claim the maximum allowable!
Wow! $336960 US would have bought me 8.4 07' Shelbys at MSRP of $40000 US each before Sales Tax!! That's a lot of Shelby. :lmao:

Yeah, ol' Craigy is laughing all the way to the bank. I just couldn't watch any of that insanity, and I feel better for doing so. What's fun now is to watch Evil Bay, and see everyone who's going to sell now that they've seen these ridiculous prices, they want to cash in! Getting harder and harder to watch anything on the Nascar Channel, now I've seen they have decided to not cover the FIA World Rally anymore. I happen to think that's some of the best TV, racing against time/elements, and that these drivers are amazingly talented and some of the top guys in driving skills.

I enjoyed watching the insanity. If I were a multi-millionaire, $600,000 to a worthy charity and the ability to go to Flatrock and watch them build your Shelby (the first 07) would not seem like all that bad a deal. I can not conceive of it, but I can understand it.
