As most of you know , Shelby has now gone head to head with Fords GT500 by offering a Shelby GT version, better looking body and Paxton supercharger, best of all no markup from MSRP.Which will be considered the REAL Shelby? And will it effect resale of the Ford version?

Both are real. As for resale price, if it does it won't be much if any.

New Shelby Auto president, Amy Boylan, has indicated that the engine upgrades being done for the West Coast Mustang will be available seperately. So basically, the upcoming CS6 package will also be offered in a Mustang GT version. But no official release has been made to that effect.

I believe these packages will be the more desirable in the collector market in the years to come.

    robin,
I agree that a car coming from Shelby will indeed be worth more in the future, I wonder how Rick Kopec will handle this and if these cars will be added to the registry. If that happens, the Ford version will be known for it's engine at best, the lower amount of SA cars being built will surely increase its value over time. This is an issue I have been pushing for a while, why not a GT version, the drivetrain is in place and is begging to be blown.

The Ford Shelby GT500 doesn't interest me at all. It weighs 3900+ lbs.! I tend to like trucks that heavy but not performance cars.

How much does the Shelby weigh?

Make no mistake about it, either one of these cars can smoke some of the best out there, with 475 to 500 HP and a car that will hook up they will be hard to beat.If you think the 2004 cobra's were fast, think again.

Personally I think that the new Mustang Shelbys', from Shelby Auto, look a little too Rice for my taste.
I do like how they were able to s p r e a d the Shelby name across the existing Mustang decklid thoough!

Ill agree with you that the West Coast Custom Mustang Definately has the Rice Rocket look..:laf: But the CS6 Mustang Looks Really good.. So if they leave off all the Ground effects and the High Wing Spoiler when they do a Shelby Conversion to the Mustang GT, I think that will look Really Nice.

If it looks similiar to the CS6 with more GO , it will be a great car to own for anyone who wants one.

The looks of the CS6 are not 100% confirmed yet so stay tuned for the final design. Details are still being worked out.

Color selection will be that of the 2006 mustang line, so if a color was missed on the GT500, you may just get your wish. I believe the GT version will be offered in the same package deal as the CS6, you may want all or just a few of the upgrades.I would love to see a real suspension and braking package offered with the blower.

Isn't that what Ford did to C.S. begining in April 1 1968, coming out with the cobra jet ??---S.

Not really, the cobra jet mustangs were being built for racing and the Shelby KR received a gift for the street,as did the GT /CJ, by then O'l Shel had little to do with the cars.

I'm certainly not an authority on Shelby cars & their value long term; but history has proven that anything w/ Shelby's name attached have been noticed by those who are in the know, and have appreciated. The Shelbuautos site states only 25 GT performance kits will be available, no such number is given for the CS6, & appearantly these kits can be customer installed or done by authorized shops around the country. My first concern would be the warranty issue w/ the packages. The bait that is keeping me interested in the GT500 is the Ford warrantied 4-valve 5.4.

Actually Amy was talking about regular GT mustangs getting the CS6 package, not the West Coast 25, so they would do one for anyone that wants one.No mark up ,wider choice of colors and with a warranty.

I was told Ford sent Shelby a Cease and Desist letter regarding their mustang modification car. If this is true Amy will have her hands full trying to find something to sell.

Allen, what was your source on the letter from Ford? I'm not surprised if it's true. Could this be the beginning of another falling out between Shelby & Ford? A CS6 package on a GT would look sweet, but there still wouldn't be a 5.4 under the hood.

    Allen,

I to would like to know your source, I have asked Amy to give us an honest answer if she can, I agree that Ford may not like the competition, but if Shelby is selling a package and having a sub dealer or private person doing the install,it will be hard for them to stop it.All depends on what Carroll sold to the devil.

That seems a bit odd that Ford would do that. If so, they should be consistent and issue Cease and Desist orders to Saleen and Rousch for offering modified Mustangs.

I guess we will have to see what Amy says. It is my understanding that Ford is paying Shelby a good some of money to use the name on the new Ford mustang. If that is the case I am sure there is a non-compete clause in the contract, and Ford may be using it. We will just have to wait and see.
