The difference being the name on the car, which is SHELBY. Ford may have bought the rights to something and whether it is exclusive is the question. Amy still has not answered the question, not sure she is in town or can even say anything if this is true.

Neither Amy nor Rich have responded to the question, indeed Ford may have noticed the REAL Shelby. To Amy if you are looking in, one of the huge problems facing SA is it's inability to communicate with buyers.

In my opinion, the one thing the new Shelby is lacking is exclusivity. With no production limits on the "basic" Shelby Mustang, I feel like the CS6 will be more of a connisuer's car.

Where did you get that number? At the NAIAS the guy on stage said around 3600 pounds. I read 3800 on another site.

    "Wheelbase:107.1 in.
    Height:54.5 in. (Coupe) / 55.7 (Convertible)
    Length:187.6 in.
    Width:73.9 in.
    Weight:approx. 3,920 lbs. (Coupe)"

    Right off of www.SVT.ford.com
That is with the shaker 1000 option, if you opt for the standard shaker 500 then it weighs 75lbs less (~3850 lbs). The convertible adds 125 lbs more.

    Comparisons:

1965 Mustang V-8: 2860 lbs. (The Shelby's were slightly lighter)
    1968 Mustang (302): 2980 lbs.

1993 Mustang Cobra R: 3125 lbs. (the Cobra is 3255)

1995 Mustang Cobra R: 3325 lbs. (351 iron block and heads)
1995 Mustang Cobra: 3365 lbs. (302 with GT40 iron heads and block)

    2006 Corvette Z06; 505hp, aluminum block (427ci): 3132 lbs.

The 2007 Shelby needs a quick diet.

My F350 is heavier than the new Shelby, but it can tow 12,000 lbs.

It sounds like from The answer you received from the other site that they are having to iron out some legality issues, that they are unable to discuss. They were going to start selling the upgrade kits in March, but my guess is they will have to push this off a couple of months. Or however long it will take to get things ironed out. Hope they didn't lose too much of their rights to modify and name these aftermarket mustangs.

Totally agree!! West coast customs riced out the mustang gt,..and too me, I don't care for it,..I like Carroll Shelby cars, not west coast riced out lookin' cars!! I would prefer Carroll to take the '07 shelby gt500 and really put his influences to it like lighter body pieces, faster performance and handling, and tougher looks from hood, side scoops,67 shelby gt500 tailights, cooler interior extra,....but please hold the Rice!!:thumbdown
