I am in the process of changing my title over from another state. My current title states mustang. I heard rumors of being able to get shelby on the title instead. Anyone have experience with this? Since I am going to change states I would like to get this done now if possible. TIA...By the way my current title has the shelby vin on it now, not the ford vin......
Back in the day, the old lady at the dealer, the ONLY one who would be allowed to touch the paperwork, typed in XXXX Ford, and that was it. No Falcon, no Galaxie, no nothing. All you need to do, is to find a nice person at whatever license/title place you go to, and request that they type the information in for the new title "this way". There are some DMV's though, that you may want to walk out of. Be prepared. Also, photostat your current title. Leaves a longer paper trail. Most DMV's need to keep the old title.
I had the same questions when I bought my father's 66 gt 350, His original Colorado title said Shelby yet his most recent title here in Minnesota said Ford. I guess it's not a big deal as long as the vin number is correct in stating that the car is a Shelby. Have a look at the posts I got when I asked the same question on this forum a while back. http://www.shelbyforums.com/forums/1965-1970-shelby-mustang-gt350-gt500/2664-shelby-mustang.html
What state are moving to. I got my title to say Shelby in Ohio when I bought it. They gave me a hard time but I insisted and even made them walk out and look at the vin plate saying Shelby on it.
you are asking for a headache, ...and having Shelby on the title won't make it worth more, or go faster. Many, , many Shelby (Mustangs) are titled as Fords. It would be interesting to know the %. Z. Ray
My 65 has been registered in both Texas and Colorado with it's Shelby serial number and titled Shelby. No problem at all when I moved to CO from TX and no problem when I moved back to TX. /Texas Swede
Mine got switch to ford in california and I am still fighting it.I just dont know how hard I going to fight. It said Shelby on the title from Illinois.I wish I still had the title but they kept it
