Re: Cobra Model Alert

  1. Regarding 1/43 models---

Related note--did any of you get into the Kyosho "museum series" 1/43 Shelby
models? I think I've now got almost "one of each"...may be missing one or
two. OTOH, it looks like Kyosho is just beginning to reissue that series (maybe
either new castings &/or more photo-etched details?).

Another 1/43 "reissue" program to watch--Bang began (about 12-18 mo ago?).
The "biggie" that I found from Bang is the Allen Grant "Riverside 1963" Cobra
(Bang # 7292, I think). It's the bright yellow Coventry Motors #96; especially
interesting because Allen lives here in the PacNW (is an honorary member of
SAAC NW), and has built a vintage-racer (visually; *almost*) identical to the
    Coventry car.

My first pass at having him autograph one for me was at the Maryhill
HillClimb event this year...but when I realized that he hadn't seen the Bang model
before, and really liked it, I gave him that one. I've been able to
special-order a few more through a great hobby shop in Portland, and as soon as I can put
myself in the "same place, same time" as Allen, will have him autograph those.

Other (small-scale) "special" packages I've really liked--Hot Wheels has done
a couple 2-car sets, first the "35th anniversary of the cobra" Daytona coupe &
Viper GTS, and more recently the Series 1 & 427 Cobra.

Anyone know anything about the small-scale Shelby (1/64, 3-car sets, I think)
sets Exoto was "promising" over the last few years (but I don't see 'em on
    the Exoto website)?

    Dave
