My car uses a hydraulic clutch actuation scheme (master cylinder and
internal hydraulic throwout bearing), and the heavy clutch caused noticeable wear to
the pivot points on the clutch pedals, and finally caused the throwout bearing
    to blow apart.

I removed it and sold it for a song, then installed a proper Centerforce
diaphram clutch. What a difference! It is about 1/4 the effort yet still holds
up just fine to over 500 hp.

I suspect once you ditch your Hayes clutch, your linkage will survive just
    fine.
