What happens when a racing champ makes a sports car? (was: 427 SOHCand Ford Hi Perf ...)

    Dan,

In 1966, Shelby American had an advertisement for the GT350 & Cobra. Is this what you mean?

It is a black & white print of a tall sleek late-thirties Carroll Shelby in a suit and tie, leaning on the
passenger side of a '66 GT350 (white w/LeManns stripes) - just forward of the windshield, left hand
down on cowl - in a 3/4 shot on a lawn with a '66 427 Cobra roadster behind the driver's fender of the
GT350, head-on 2 car-lengths back in front of some evergreens. The caption reads "What happens
when a racing champ makes a sports car?" at the bottom of the top half of the ad (photo). The
bottom half is black text on a white background, that introduces SA's two new products the 427
    Cobra and the GT350.

I know this because I am looking at the ad now. See the attached pic. I found mine in one of my
Dad's old Playboy magazines that he hid in the attic (March 1966). While the covers were ratty,
the insides were perfectly preserved by the weight of the stack of several magazines. I brought
the whole magazine to SAAC-18 (Watkins Glen, NY, 1993), where an amused Carroll Shelby
signed my copy for free, saying "Damn, I looked good". I cut the picture out with a razon knife
and had it plaqued, like a degree on walnut background with gold edging. It is one of my most
valuable collectibles. That is, valuable to me.
