Do you mean to say that the owner over stated things a little bit when he said the following in his auction ad: *************************** I have been in the business of trading and documenting Shelby Cobras for over 25 years now. And I want to stress and make a point to you today that I have "never" seen or heard of a Ford Shelby Cobra GT convertible that is in the same "all original survivor state" as this unit. What a true "one of a kind ultra rare find"! A "all original" (including paint and tires) 7000 miles survivor Shelby Cobra. Shelby said that "if you are going to invest in one of my old Cobras, this is the one you need to look at"! To add to history and rarity of this unmolested museum piece, (according to Ford/Shelby production records) it is only one of "12" 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500s, that came from the Ford/Shelby Factory in this configuration with factory air-conditioning. I just completed three months of extensive research into the history of 2444 (2444 is the last four Shelby VIN numbers) and here are just a few of my findings: I recently interviewed two long time Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) "survivor series" show judges about the over all condition of 2444. Both SAAC judges made statements to me that in all of their years of judging the "survivor" classes for SAAC, they have "never" ran across a Shelby Cobra Mustang convertible that was as original, with the low documented miles that this Shelby has! In addition, in talking with the VP of Barrett Jackson Auctions recently, he also inform me that he to had "never" seen or heard of a Shelby Cobra Mustang convertible that is in as good original survivor condition as 2444. He also stated "that Shelby Cobra is a museum piece"! I believe strongly that 2444 will be equal the value of a 1971 Hemi Cuda Coupe (which are currently trading in the 500,000 to 1,000,000 dollar range) at the end of the coming new year. ********************************* I guess it all depends who is doing the buying and who is doing the selling and that you have to read between the lines when you read all these auction ads. Maybe it is a good thing the seller didn't list who the two "long time Shelby American Automobile Club survivor series show judges" were. I guess we'll see if a year from now if Shelbys are trading in the $500,000 -$1,000,000 range.
